About Me

Hello, I am a 25 year old traveler who seeks to learn from and share ideas with all of the people I meet. At the moment I am moving around western Australia on my motorbike. I decided to come to Australia after a year trip in New Zealand because at the time I was still unsure of the direction I wanted to take with my next few meaningful steps. What I mean by this is, that I was scared of attempting something that I could possibly not enjoy or fail at. I have always had an interest in teaching youth but after one course in education in college I decided that this path was not for me. I did however, continue to teach youth via passing along my knowledge of basketball for the last 6 years or so. Since arriving in Australia I have started to dive into a smaller interest of mine, philosophy, by reading some books, and listening to some podcasts; I immediately fell in love and wanted to get as much info about it as I can. I am certain now that when I am done with my travels that I will pursue this newly rediscovered passion by studying either in my home country of the United States where I can rack up a massive amount of debt and work for the next 10 years to pay it off... or apply for universities in German and other countries that have a much lower cost of education and study while continuing to meet and learn from new people in new places! While trying to learn what I can with my minimal education, I have also realized that there are some changes within my own life that can be effected and in my opinion bettered by implementing small changes. Some of these changes may seem extreme and some may appear to just be a waste of effort, but I for one, am attempting to give them a legitimate shot and grow/change from the outcomes I see from them. Some of these recent changes that I have taken upon myself to try are: a sober lifestyle, no alcohol or drugs (will accompany people to bars and sit down for a beer or a smoke but just want to be a part of the conversation), a vegetarian diet (which is extremely tough for me), waking up early and going to bed at a decent time, taking the time to think about and respond as honestly as possible with every conversation I have, etc... Feel free to ask me about any of these or things that you think may be good ideas as well! I am trying to learn as much about myself and others as possible!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While traveling I hope to not just encounter people, but to actually learn about/from them. My thinking at the time is that I am more likely to find people who are willing to share in ideas and adventures via couch-surfing than from staying at a hostel for a night or two before taking off for the next stop.
