About Me

I'm an architect of fun, and I take that very seriously! I taught Okinawan karate for 6 years (been training since I was 5) - kids are amazing; Their formative years should be spent playing and creating! I did stuntwork for a while before deciding I needed a little more stability in my life because I became the legal guardian of my younger brother. So, I worked for Nickelodeon for 9 years as the CG Environment Supervisor, then took a year off just to focus on my hobby - designing board and card games. I figured I'd try a career change and jumped into Community Management for a video game studio. I've been with my better half, Hannah, for 6 years now so travelling is our next major milestone! I love DIY projects. I am a partnered streamer on Twitch.tv/TheBluemuzzy

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Lack of money is the "great inhibitor" of our time, but thanks to sites like this, generous and open people are the "great equalizers"! I want to meet creative minds, understand the world from new perspectives, and always be slightly off balance because I'm experience new and challenging situations. Walking is basically just controlled falling and it's how we move forward!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I grew up on the rock of the 60s-2000s, but also had great exposure to doo-wop, jazz, blues, and classical. Positive-tip hip-hop is the latest addition to my musical vocabulary and I'm really enjoying the blending of strong, elevated messages with a beat.

Movies:
I have to be surprised by a storyline to truly enjoy a movie. I don't want to guess the entirety of it's plot line 10-15 minutes into the film. Trailers these days are horrible; Let me go to the movie to see it - leave me some meat to chew on! Enough with the shaky, too-close camera. let me see the fight scenes - those stuntmen work HARD to sell those hits.

Books:
While I read mostly sci-fi and fantasy, I don't mind stepping outside of that realm if the writing is snappy, witty, and makes my mind question my own position in its presented situations. If it's informative, I'll probably just do an audio book, but if it's an experience I'm looking to get lost in, I've got to be turning pages until my morning alarm snaps me out of my escapism.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I became the legal guardian for my younger brother. He moved across the country to live with me. I enrolled him in his senior year of high school. I made sure he had a healthy home life with positivity and responsibility. I put him through culinary college and made sure he always felt like he could achieve more.
