About Me

Hi I'm Joe.I studied for a degree in social work and also worked in different community based jobs in settings such as mental health, drugs and alcohol, homelessness and learning disabilities. I have travelled Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Philippines, Australia and South America. Back in England now at my family home!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Basically I love people and think its an excellent idea for travellers on a budget.
I have been travelling the world and generally I much prefer to meet people from an area in a country and experience real culture than visit tourist areas.
I have hosted in the UK and also met some fellow couch surfers whilst travelling.

In the future I hope to host more in the UK

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite music - I love ALL music but my favourite is probably reggae. Recently I have been listening to bands and artists such as Molotov Jukebox, Selah Sue, The Skints, The Mouse Outfit and Hollie Cook to name a few.

I'm not sure if I have a favourite book but I recently read Papillon and enjoyed it more than anything I have read in a while.

Movies - The goonies, Hook (Childhood favourites)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived in Colombia for five months...what a place and what amazing people!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning new languages and sharing language skills with people from different countries so this is something I would love to do if you stayed with me or if I stayed with you.
With my background in community based work my plan is to try and get involved in volunteering projects across the world so if this is something you are involved in I would be really interested.

What I Can Share with Hosts

In all honesty everything I have whilst I am travelling I would be willing to share with good people (apart from maybe my passport!). Sometimes I think sharing things like company, stories, experiences and a laugh and a smile are more valuable than anything else.
I enjoy cooking and would love to cook for my hosts as well as help out with anything they need such as cleaning, running errands etc. In fact I would prefer to do things like this than not as I feel it is all part of the experience of staying with someone new and learning about their life.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Netherlands, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United States
