About Me

I'm a 27-year-old Kentuckian (think bourbon, horses, KFC). I've been traveling since October 2016 from the US, through Central and South America and now in Australia. I used to work in politics in the US but now work in the outdoors and writing when I can. I'm headed to China in September to teach English. I like to be in the outdoors: backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking and trail running. I like getting to meet new people and get into long talks on weird subjects over coffee, beer, wine, bourbon, etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing to get to meet more people while traveling and see what we can learn from each other about ourselves and the places that we call home. I have technically been on it for a while and finally want to actually use it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm all over the place. I love bluegrass music, including new stuff like Old Crow Medicine Show. I like old school hip hop, from NWA up through biggie and 50 cent. I like rock from all times and will listen to just about anything. My top movie for all times is the Big Lebowski. Check it out. Books are also huge. a couple of my top authors are Wendell Berry, Kurt Vonnegut, and Hemingway.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I traveled with a friend from Louisville, Kentucky in the United States all the way to Ushuaia, Argentina (Tierra del Fuego), all without taking any planes. We drove a car painted like a shark, hiked, hitchhiked, took buses, taxis, and even a few boats. It was amazing and I can tell you more until you tell me to stop.

Teach, Learn, Share

I travel to learn and to share what I can. I have had some cool experiences and want to hear about yours. I'm also a decent cook on occasion.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A love for travel, a good conversation over a drink, my amazing ability to make good mexican food.
