About Me
Hello! My name is Joe and I am 31 years old. I have spent the last 10 years working in the restaurant industry, but recently quit my job as a cook to start landscaping with a friend of mine. It has been refreshing to get outside everyday and work with the sun on my face and the wind in my hair. I guess you could say I am a bit of a dabbler. In my free time I enjoy reading and writing and I have recently tried to get into painting and photography. I like to watch a good movie and sip a good beer. I love the outdoors, camping, hiking, canoeing/kayaking, playing disc golf, and sitting by a fire at night. I am rather musically inclined as well.. I like to play my drums, guitar and ukulele.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In a few short weeks I will be packing up my car and moving from the finger-lakes region of New York state all the way across the country to Seattle, Washington. This is going to be a fantastic adventure, and a major shift in my life. I am very excited to start this journey and have been looking into different routes and trying to figure out how to make the solo trip as meaningful as possible. This led me to consider couchsurfing as an option because I have heard a lot of good things about the community!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
On September 13, 2014 I went the Inlet on Fourth Lake in the Adirondack Mountains in New York. I rowed out in a canoe with about 3100 other people from all across the country to attempt to break the Guinness world record for largest "raft" of canoes, kayaks and guide boats. The raft consisted of all our boats held together by hand. We floated like this for 30 seconds as 2 planes flew overhead. One was from Guinness and confirmed with video evidence that we did indeed break the world record. The second plane contained a photographer for Sports Illustrated Magazine. The event was called "One Square Mile of Hope", which is a yearly charity event to raise money for cancer research. That day me, my dad and our good friend (who beat cancer) made it into the Guinness Book of World Records and Sports Illustrated in just one day!
Teach, Learn, Share
I would be more than happy to share a few easy recipes that I have picked up over the years, as well as guitar or ukulele lessons! I am open to learning about local points of interest, as well as yoga/meditation, different wines and pretty much anything involving crafts. I would love to share a cup of coffee or tea and some conversation, a good meal and maybe a song or two!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share good food and good drink, some songs and some laughs.
