About Me

I was born in small town America in a parish of roughly 12,000 people. Fun was to be had if you were very creative. I learned to master that art well. In 2009 I moved to Mississippi and in 2015 I moved to Austin, TX where I currently reside. I guess the best way to describe me is a somewhat even blend of brainiac, country boy, outdoor enthusiast, athlete, and active observer of this crazy thing we call life. I have a varying degree of interests and skills, some I'm extremely knowledgeable or good at, some... not so much (but I will have fun doing it anyway). I appreciate conversationalists who are politically, intellectually and culturally open minded.

I'm pretty new to Couchsurfing but hoping some folks can give this newby country boy a chance.

Something to briefly touch on: I’m bisexual. I’m cool with it; hopefully you’re cool with it. I would say it defines me very little externally. I have a very strong set of morals and rarely make it a topic of conversation unless someone brings it up, but that’s probably something to throw out there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new, cool people with similar interests. And differing interests as well. I keep an open mind.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Mainly hard rock and country but relatively open minded. Some of my favorite groups: Times of Grace, Ra, Abandoned Pools, Disturbed, The Cardigans, Coldplay, Destrophy, Wade Hayes, Shane Yellowbird, Trivium, Volbeat

Movies: Action, sci-fi, superheroes, comedy, suspense. Just about everything but love stories. Some of my favorite movies of all time: The Crow, Tron: Legacy, Happy Gilmore, Dr. Doolittle 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, Falling Down, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Jurassic World

Books: Self improvement books, historical works, Anne Rice, Dean Koontz

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm known for getting injured and doing something absolutely dumb directly after. September 12, 2012 I wrecked my motorcycle going 60 MPH and during 5:00 traffic on a major freeway. The recovery time was six months and involved a debridement surgery and two skin graft surgeries. The day after the wreck I was planning to meet my family to vacation in Florida's Emerald Coast. The doctor and nurses assured me I would not be doing that with my injuries. Roughly 40% of my body was wrapped in bandages.

I went.

Teach, Learn, Share

My skills I can share include protecting yourself, your assets and most certainly your electronic assets and identity. Some other skills that may be useful to others:
- hiking
- kayaking
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Photoshop (a little rusty), creating memes (I'm a memeologist), creating charts/graphs/flowcharts.
- Working out; I've created workout plans for people before
- Food: I'm well-versed in nutrition and which foods are healthy
- Cooking: I can cook Southern food but typically prefer to make the healthier versions; I have my own recipe of shrimp & grits (don't knock it until you try it)
