About Me

Hello!

My name is Joe and I recently became a full-time student after leaving my job because of receiving a large scholarship for university! This is going to allow me the month of August to travel the world. I am a Secondary Education English major with a minor in Asian Studies: Korean. I am extremely open to new experiences and meeting new people that are different from myself. I have been in the US military for 4 years now and I have 2 years left before I am out of the army.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This was recommended to me from a friend and from a reddit AMA about a man who traveled the world on his bicycle.

Interests

I love playing soccer and ultimate frisbee, and I will be bringing a disc and my boots wherever I go. I have been into fitness and powerlifting for about a year and a half, although I am recovering from a broken ankle and haven't been able to train for a while. I enjoy studying and devote some time each day to studying Korean vocab and grammar outside of my normal course work. In the past I have played some video games competitively, but these days I don't have the time to play as many video games.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have listened to a lot of music over the years. My current favorite is khiphop. My favorite genres over the years include; alternative, acoustic, piano, post-hardcore, metalcore, ska, thrash, and many more.

I don't watch movies.

I usually only read textbooks for studying.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Teach, Learn, Share

My major is English Education and I have worked with Koreans before and their English. I am absolutely willing to help out any of my students who are willing to learn :)
