ABOUT ME
Hi my name is Joe! I am a 22 year old man (elderly boy in my opinion, I don't want to grow up yet). I have done some traveling in the past including a month long trip to Guatemala, a week in Mexico City, and a three month long solo trip through the UK and Europe which I miss like a madman!. In short I have always been called very friendly, open with nothing to hide, and very outgoing. My favorite pastime might arguably be making people laugh, its a foundation for all of my friendships. Right now I am using this site like most. Its economical and a great way to get to meet new people! If you have any questions about anything at all please feel free to send me a message at anytime! Oh and I only speak English. And yes I do find that to be pretty rude (the American public school system isn't helpful in that regard, its a real problem). Then again I assume if you are reading this then that last disclaimer wont be needed ;)
PHILOSOPHY
I don't think I have a personal philosophy and I doubt most people do. Even humans are a bit too dynamic to live by just one motto, and there is something a bit strange to me in a 22 year old having a personal philosophy. I think pleasantness and decency are great places to start.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm currently not traveling, which is a terrible thing :( I hope I can get some people from around the world to crash at my place! It'd be a breath of fresh foreign air! Have fun and be happy! - Joe
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couchsurfed a bit in London and Vienna! By the way they are CS friends of mine, Rossetti and Marie. I highly recommend both of them! I have yet to host and can't wait to!
Interests
Playing guitar and drums. Politics and history. Film from an analytical perspective, a technical one, or just for pure entertainment! Conversations about the world and human nature get me going, that is for sure. Meeting new people! I feel like the last one is what it is all about. Life is about collecting new experiences and new people are what make that happen.

Music, Movies, and Books
This is a big one. I studied film (as a minor), so I'll name a few directors I love. Hitchcock, Kurosawa, Kubrick, John Carpenter, Park Chan-Wook, Billy Wilder, Fritz Lang, gosh there's so many. Also, Gary Oldman and Daniel Day Lewis are probably my top two favorite actors alongside Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, Gene Hackman, both Audrey and Katherine Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Sean Connery, Cate Blanchett, Kurt Russell, Meryl Streep, Julie Andrews, Robert de Niro, again there are plenty :)
I've had a passion for reading since I was very young. These last few summers I worked full time picking up lawn and leaf bags and brush for my town's highway department as a way to put myself through college. During my time there I mastered the art of reading while holding onto the back of a garbage truck doing at least 30 miles per hour. Orwell, Garcia Marquez, Chomsky, Kerouac, William S. Burroughs, Vonnegut, Sartre, and Frank Norris were all last summers reading. I swear, the government needs to begin sponsoring recovery meetings for people like me. The environmentalist in me cringes when I see the size of my book shelves
For music I am a classical/Spanish guitarist. My top three composers for that instrument are Villa-Lobos, Francisco Tarrega, and Issac Albeniz. However, I like Jazz (Miles Davis, Fela Kuti, Charles Mingus), rock music (AC/DC is still a nostalgic favorite), and artists like Mogwai, Tortoise, the Disco Biscuits, Elvis, and BIG. Like most people the list just keeps on going! The only song I certainly do not like is Centerfold by J Geils. Haha I don't know why, theres just something about the melody
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spending a month in Guatemala. I lived in five different places, yet went to eight. I went with a small class from my college. We had a beautiful time and I'd have to say that it was this trip that gave me an appetite for travel. I went to Mexico City for a week the next year for another class but with one of the same professors. Both experiences were amazing and life changing! I can't wait to have more!
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, the only things I'm sure about putting in here are I can teach guitar, especially classical/Spanish guitar :P However, after studying at Le Moyne and due to natural interest, I love conversations abouthistory, politics (usually both), film, music, philosophy, and a host of other subjects. So anyone willing to take me in for a night or few, I thought you'd like to know the previous :) Also, if anyone can help me improve my speaking abilities in any language I'd really love that (Spanish is the only language other than English that I have any background in, and even then I'm a terrible Spanish speaker, utterly bad).
