About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to climb and travel the whole country

ABOUT ME

I am a software engineer for IBM. Perhaps the best attribute of this job is the ability to work from anywhere with a decent internet connection. As much as I like the folks that I work with, the time since I left the office in Massachusetts has been wonderful. I get to travel a lot and live in the southwest where the weather and rock climbing are both excellent. Please inquire if you wish to know anything further.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to live for the moment, although sometimes I fail and trade in that philosophy for comfort and security instead. Hey, it happens. I think I'll save my deep philosophical debates for when I'm surfing your couch.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't really participate...yet. I joined because I think the premise is excellent and hopefully I'll be more active in the future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I did some couch surfing in Hawaii, which was a fun experience. I haven't had the pleasure of hosting anyone yet because I don't have a house to call my own.

Interests

I like to be outside. Rock climbing is my drug of choice. Hiking is fun too. I like to bike, swim, and run as well, sometimes even in the form of a triathlon. I play soccer reasonably well but I also enjoy goofing around with almost any other sport, especially football. If the season's right I like to ski and snowboard, but since I have the option I think I'm going to stick to the warmer weather for a while.

Music, Movies, and Books

Call me childish, but I like to read fantasy and science fiction books. I also read some non-fictional survival stories to keep myself in check and because they are incredible stories. When I watch movies, it's usually to have a good laugh and that's exactly the kind of movie I enjoy most.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed the so called "casual" route up the diamond on Long's Peak. Words fail me when trying to describe it, but just Google "diamond long's peak" and you will see some stunning images I'm sure.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could share quite a bit of rock climbing knowledge with anyone who wanted to learn. To a lesser degree, I could share general outdoor knowledge. How to spend several nights in the woods and actually enjoy yourself but not any survival skills that are too serious. There's a good chance that I'd be able to answer any computer questions you might have.

There are quite a few things that I would be interested in learning. I'd like to learn how to surf, start doing yoga, auto repair and maintenance, a martial art and some new languages to start with.
