ABOUT ME
My name is Joe. I am a teacher at a public high school in north Austin, Texas. I live with my girlfriend, Trisha, her daughter, Treyna, and her son, Bryson. We live in a nice house in a quiet neighborhood. We are definitely willing and able to host someone who is looking to surf, although we are not extremely centrally located, which is what (I would assume) most surfers would want.
We are very nice people, though, and laid back, as most Austinites tend to be. Trisha and I like to go on walks or hikes, and we are headed up to the Appalachian Trail this July. We are really looking forward to it, and we are hoping that we will be able to enjoy some couchsurfing hospitality during our trip. We plan to use the greyhound bus to get from Austin to Massachusetts.
I love to travel. I have been to Turkey, China, Venezuela, Hawaii, Europe...
I love learning about other people - the way they live.
PHILOSOPHY
I think every day is an opportunity to improve myself and the people around me. I try to be positive and learn as much as I can about people and about things.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I would like to offer a place to stay for those who need it. I hope to be a kind, and respectful guest, if given the opportunity.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Though not through this website, I stayed with a couple of friends in Istanbul, Turkey. I really enjoyed it and I have found that I am pretty easy to live with.

The Big Lebowski. Modest Mouse. A Confederacy of Dunces.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I kayaked the Napali Coast (Kauai island) twice in two days - a total of 34 miles.
Teach, Learn, Share
As an English teacher, I know a little bit about literature. I love talking about great books. I am also decent at tennis and would love to provide some tips if anyone is interested. My students at the high school where I teach are very important to me, so I would be up for telling stories about these amazing people.
I want to learn more about the world and different ways to experience it (traveling tips).
