ABOUT ME

I am looking for something fun to do in other parts of the world with people who value their outdoors activities and have some stories to tell about their experiences and dreams. I want to learn about the cultures/customs as I travel through places, meet the people. I have respect for the various ways people live in warm and cold countries and am interested in seeing how you live in your chosen place.

PHILOSOPHY

Find what excites you. Laugh. Value addictions of the healthy kind. (drugs such as exercise) Be kind to your knees. Lyrics in a song by BAZ LUHRMANN. Remember how fortunate you are. Identifying with such lyrics means you have a headstart in life so many other people (around the world) are not necessarily as privaleged to have.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am an energetic guy who is addicted to the drug we all possess, endorphines. Laughing releases it, running and dancing and i think singing maybe too. Runners have a definition for LSD, Long Slow Distance. I like to run slow and far over hills and rivers, or fast if the desire arises. Cycling is something i do by habit when possible but at the moment i am uncharacteristically without wheels. I know how to make bikes function well, since i have worn many out. I could help u out.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

6 couches so far. Indonesia; Bali, Yogjakarta, Jakarta. Borneo Malaysia;Kota Kinabalu x 2, Kuching. All in 2010. I have only been home for a few weeks since then. All experiences have been great. Through surfing i have met other hosts who hang out together and other surfers. Its a big old community and it brings with it a great feeling of how people from anywhere can just do so much to break down barriers of missunderstanding and predjudice by relaxing in each others company sharing space, and communicating.

Interests

Very broad. Mostly finding cool places and staying fit and meeting, learning from other people.
Surfing - practicing in warm waters. Nz has cold ocean. Cycling. running up and down mountains. Dancing, Singing.

Not a movie buff. Appreciate live performance most. Love to be part of live performance. like music of many kinds. Depends on the mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A short solo cycle tour in Tibet on singletrack, which was the only means of transport between mountain villages.

Teach, Learn, Share

The people of new zealand like to travel.
Cycling is a great way to see the countryside.
Where can i practice the pursuit of skiing and maybe telemark?
Baking is fun and good to give.
