About Me

CURRENT MISSION

science fiction has the big ideas, so i'm looking at it for my mission

ABOUT ME

I graduated, then biked cross country. I was itching to do something new again and get out of my fairly small comfort zone, so I just recently took a two week (as much as I could get off from work) semi-solo trip in Europe.

Now I work at a software company as a quality assurance manager. I try to not let stress get to me, but generally it does and I blow it off by riding my bike, working on my bike, writing, drinking, going to Timber's matches, yelling at the ref, and playing pick-up soccer.

PHILOSOPHY

If it isn't making you happy, you probably shouldn't be doing it. Especially if it isn't making anyone else happy either.

Robots will do everything. Not now, not tomorrow, but someday and for the rest of your life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surfed a couple times years ago, now I try to host as much as I can, usually a person or two a month in the summer.

I finally surfed again on my trip to Europe, and went to a meet up in Barcelona that was so much fun that I think I'll have to get more involved locally.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Mostly hosting, a little surfing. I also host a lot of touring cyclists through warmshowers.org.

Interests

Bikes, movies, good beer, good books, computers, sci-fi.

Music, Movies, and Books

You name it, I probably like it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Eiffel Tower at midnight with a bottle of wine and new friends.

Erie, PA Blues and Jazz festival. Biked in at 8 at night to the sound of blues. Lamented the lack of good beer purchasable on a Sunday in PA. Received VIP wristbands from an organizer so that we might partake in the free local brew and food. Given a couch to sleep on by the end of the night by a local student.

Teach, Learn, Share

If I have time, I'll make you pizza and teach you the secret (hint: the secret is a pizza stone).

I work on my bike and fix my friends' bikes a lot so I can probably help you out there, even if all you are looking for is buying advice.

I'm trying to learn some practical programming skills and the way people interact with machines is on my list of budding interests.
