About Me

Hey there! I'm a 27-year-old Belgian currently living in Iran to immerse myself in the beautiful Persian language and culture. I've always been an adventurous person, and traveling has been a passion of mine since I was young. One of my favorite things to do while traveling is to explore local cuisine, so I'm always on the hunt for the best food spots in town.

When I'm not out exploring, you can usually find me reading a book or trying my hand at a new hobby. I'm currently learning how to play the santur, a traditional Iranian instrument, which has been both challenging and rewarding.

I'm excited to connect with fellow travelers and learn more about their experiences and cultures. And if you happen to be in town, I'd love to show you around and share some of my favorite local spots!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined Couchsurfing because I believe that travel is not just about visiting new places, but also about connecting with people and immersing oneself in local culture. I've always found that staying with locals is the best way to get a true sense of a place, as they can offer insights and experiences that you wouldn't find in a guidebook.

Couchsurfing allows me to connect with like-minded travelers and locals who are passionate about exploring the world and sharing their culture. It's also a great way to make new friends and learn about different perspectives.

As a student of Persian language and culture, I'm particularly excited about the opportunity to meet locals and learn from them. I believe that Couchsurfing will not only enhance my travel experiences, but also allow me to grow as a person and expand my understanding of the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music, I have quite an eclectic taste. I enjoy everything from traditional Iranian music, which I've been learning more about since moving to Iran, to indie rock and electronic music. Some of my favorite artists include Radiohead, Bonobo, Hozier, and Googoosh.

As for movies, I'm a big fan of foreign films, especially Iranian cinema. Some of my favorite Iranian movies include "A Separation" and "The Salesman" by Asghar Farhadi, and "About Elly" by Asghar Farhadi. I also enjoy watching documentaries, particularly those that explore social and political issues.

When it comes to books, I love reading both fiction and non-fiction. I've been reading a lot of Iranian literature lately, including works by Jalal Al-e-Ahmad and Ahmad Mahmoud. I also enjoy reading travelogues, as they provide unique insights into different cultures and places. Some of my favorite travel writers include Ryszard Kapuscinski and Paul Theroux.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I've done was hiking to the summit of Mount Damavand, the highest peak in Iran. The climb was challenging, but the views from the top were absolutely breathtaking. I'll never forget standing at the summit, looking out at the vast expanse of mountains and feeling a sense of awe and accomplishment.

The hike was also a great opportunity to connect with other hikers and learn more about Iranian culture. I met people from all over the world, and we bonded over the shared experience of conquering the mountain. It was a truly unforgettable adventure, and one that I'll always cherish.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: As a student of Persian language and culture, I'd be happy to share my knowledge of the language with anyone who's interested. I could also teach you some traditional Iranian recipes, as cooking is one of my passions.

Learn: I'm always eager to learn more about different cultures and perspectives. If you have any unique insights or experiences to share, I'd love to hear them. I'm particularly interested in learning more about the history and culture of the places I visit.

Share: I'm happy to share my travel experiences and insights with anyone who's interested. I can also offer tips and recommendations for places to visit, eat, and explore in Iran. Additionally, I'd be happy to share my love of music and movies, and recommend some of my favorite Iranian films and musicians.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a guest, I always strive to be a respectful and considerate visitor. I can offer my gratitude and appreciation for your hospitality, as well as help out with household chores or cooking meals if needed.

I can also share my passion for travel and adventure, and exchange stories and experiences from our travels. Additionally, as a student of Persian language and culture, I can share my knowledge and insights about Iranian culture and history, and offer tips and recommendations for places to visit and explore in Iran.

In terms of hobbies, I can play some traditional Iranian music on the santur, a Persian instrument I've been learning how to play. I can also offer to teach you some basic Persian phrases or cooking techniques, as cooking is one of my passions.

Overall, I'm excited to connect with hosts and learn more about their lives and cultures. I believe that Couchsurfing is all about sharing and learning from each other, and I'm eager to be a part of that community.
