Overview
About Me
Very bookish but very sociable - somehow manage to balance the two! Most of the books I read are by authors from everywhere in the world except my native England, and it feels like high time to actually see the countries in the flesh rather than just reading about them.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Stupid as this might sound coming from someone who wants to travel everywhere, I don't like the idea of being a tourist. Couchsurfing sounds a much better way to glimpse what it's like to live in the country in question rather than merely 'visiting'. I'd like to host myself, when I have my own place.
Interests
Being bookish sort of gets you interested in everything. Vague, I know, but I'm generally pretty interested it whatever's in front of me.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I'm easily pleased. Most played genres are folk and rap. Favourite artist at the moment (and for a good while) is Akala (English rapper).
Movies: Old and new. I love going to the cinema and I love movie nights at home. Easily pleased again, although I'm not brilliant with very slow-paced films.
Books: Not enough space here. Mostly into twentieth-century authors from Central and Eastern Europe at the moment.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I recently quit my job and moved to Prague to get a teaching qualification. Doesn't sound like much, but was a pretty big thing considering my substantial lack of any travel experience beforehand!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm relaxed, sociable, and will tend to be very interested in whatever country I'm staying in, so will be pretty receptive to any conversation or ideas or excursions etc. I'm not just using this as a 'free hotel' service!
