Overview
About Me
I was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1985. I lived in Perry County, PA fo r20 years, then attended HACC and Shippensburg University where I studied US, European and Military History.
Before joining the Army I worked as a Supervisor with UPS for five years in Package Handling, Human Resources, and Package Car Driving.
In 2008, I enlisted in the US Army. I have served in the Army for six (6) years. I am a veteran of the Iraq War, I deployed from 2009-2010. I am currently stationed in Stuttgart, Germany.
My family is originally from Germany. Our name was Göthel, and we lived in Dresden and/or Berlin. I am trying to locate any family I may still have in Europe. If anyone knows this family name, I would be very grateful for assistance in meeting them.
I have seen many things in my travels, both beautiful and horrifying. They have given me an interesting and possibly unique view on this life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love traveling around Europe and meeting new people. I do not like 'tourist traps' and paying high prices for hotels. This limits the money you have to explore the place you are visiting and you only meet other people who are not from the town.
I like to get to know the people and place I visit

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Seen a childhood dream come true.
Been welcomed by the kindest, most wonderful people I've ever known.
Felt truly alive... even if only for a moment.
Teach, Learn, Share
My educational background is History; US and European from 1900-1970.
I also love to study the stranger parts of history, little things that seem to make no sense and yet all flow together.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook, clean, build things, and grew up on a farm, so I have many skills that I can earn my keep with.
I am also able to bring several wine options for tasting.
If there are any American specialties you would like, I would gladly bring them along. You have but to ask.
I also have many stories to tell, as I have seen alot of things in a fairly short time.
Countries I’ve Visited
