About Me

Hey there! I'm Joelle, a brain-obsessed neuroscientist living in Amsterdam! I’m originally from Germany but after living in the US in 2018, I have been living in the Netherlands ever since.

I spend my days trying to unlock the secrets of the brain, but after hours, you can find me chilling in one of the city's many parks, soaking up the good vibes, playing spike ball, or slack lining. 🌱

I'm trying to live sustainable and I eat vegetarian. Second hand shopping is literally my favorite thing to do, but I also sew my own stuff! 🪡🧵

When I'm not sciencing or saving the planet, I'm out in nature, hiking, and feeling all the feels. It's the perfect way to clear my head after long weeks in the lab. I like it simple. Give me a tent and a pair of hiking boots, and I'm good to go!

As a lover of simplicity, couch surfing is my go-to way of traveling in cities. There's nothing quite like staying with a local who can show you the hidden gems of their city and give you a taste of the local way of life. Plus, it's a great way to make new friends and build lasting connections all over the world. So, once we met and you're ever looking for a place to crash in Amsterdam, hit me up – my couch is always open!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I've traveled more and more, I've come to a realization: the things that really stick with me after a trip are the people I meet along the way. It's funny how time makes memories fade, but the conversations that I've had with locals and fellow travelers stay with me for years to come. In the end, it's the people and their stories that make travel truly unforgettable.
