About Me

I’m a hardworking yet laidback person who loves to meet new people and share meaningful experiences. I work as a full time musician with a few sub-disciplines (performing, composing, producing, engineering, and teaching), however I also love to read, cook, explore, and play board games. Let’s make something together!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on Couchsurfing because I’ve found that some of the most memorable experiences of my life have been while meeting new friends in unfamiliar places. I love learning about other cultures and experiencing new ways of living. It makes the world a little bit smaller.

I was introduced to couchsurfing through a couple of friends that I met one night playing music with some strangers along the Seine in Paris. They were hosting at the time, and invited me to parties with couchsurfers from all over the world. I learned about the spirit of couchsurfing and how it aligned with my own goals of travel: meeting new people and having meaningful experiences with them. It was truly an unforgettable time!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love many types of music, however I find myself usually gravitating toward experimental or extreme genres that test the limits of their given parameters. I’ve studied classical piano and composition, and recently I’ve taken a deep interested in sound design. I love many movies and books as well, especially those that deal with the strange and surreal. A few of my favorite movies are Mulholland Drive, Dead Alive, and Spirited Away, and some favorite books are House of Leaves (Danielewski), The Cipher (Koja), and Independent People (Laxness).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Earlier this year, I scored and sound designed an experimental puppet show. It was an amazing and satisfying challenge, and I made great new friends while working on the project. I was also recently commissioned to write an electroacoustic piece for a festival that featured an immersive sound installation, where I found new friends and future collaborators as well!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share conversation, information about my home in Chicago (USA), music, and vegetarian cooking:)
