I am a documentary maker, with photography and sound, and occasionally video. I have done a few things in my life and have lived in three places longer than two years.
The older I get the more I seek answers in other people by looking at their lives and seeing how they do things versus the way I learned to fend for myself.

I traveled to India two years ago and it opened me up, I learned a lot about myself, and in the time I have been back in the US since, I have been conflicted about living here, as I have been for the last ten years.
I have come to realize that I dont feel at home here possibly never have felt at home here, my family is mostly still in Ireland. So now I have a craving to fulfil, in learning about people in different parts of the world. How they exist and how they think, and how we as a race transcend ourselves and command adversity.

Photography & Conversation primarily, then Art, Cinema & music. Cycling, and living simply. Some meditation. Though I dont affiliate with any prescribed religion, I am spiritual and this shows in everything I am and how I do it.

Im interested in colloquial economics, anthropology, sociology and history. Current affairs. Electronics and technology as it pertains to the benefits of humanity. Green living. Liberalism, socio-democratics. I dont like or have faith in capitalism. I love train travel.

I am anthropologically curious about the daily and lifetime passage of populace and the minutia of that, how it functions and how it changes a place and how a place affects the people that exist within it. I seek identity through others.

I have a massive music collection, in the past I collected records, now they are millions of mp3's! I like ethnic music, creativity, something learned and expressed. I also like electronic music because it is universal and has youthful energy and attempts the transcend the world in which it was created.
My driving passion is field recordings, life sounds as recorded and made available for anyone to hear.
Music: Basic Channel, Ethiopiques, Radiohead, Laika, Biosphere, PJ Harvey, Public Image Ltd, Howie B, U2, Black Sabbath, Richard H Kirk, Air Liquide etc etc wide ranging tastes in music!
Cinema: Documentaries, Louis Malle, Terrence Malick, Lars Von Trier, Kysowski, Blade Runner, Apocalypse Now, etc etc

I worked as camera crew on feature films, my favorite experience was working as a set dresser on the Matrix. Being an extra on Braveheart & Saving Private Ryan. Worked with Terrence Malick on The Thin Red Line.
I have photographed for newspapers and have made portraits of some very famous people my favorite photojournalism moments are making pictures inside the Union Carbide factory in Bhopal, Experiencing the Maha Kumbh Mela, India. Recording the Imam call to prayer in Taj ul Masajid Mosque the biggest mosque in India. Hiking Glaciers in New Zealand. Low flying over the Milford Sound New Zealand. Taking the Ghan from Perth to Sydney Australia. Traveling all over the US on trains.

I am a deeply contemplative person, I study my environment and assess how it functions and my role in it. It is represented by my photography and my recordings. I am a highly enriched photographer with a wealth of technical knowledge and with that have incredible critical thinking abilities to make images of a place or time that have meaning beyond the frame of the image. I can show you how to think like this and I can show you how to take amazing images that have meaning beyond taking a picture.
I can edit films, make amazing audio recordings, I can listen to a person tell a story.
