CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME
Traveling increases my love and understanding of other people and other places as well as the people I already know and the places I come from. I am getting pretty sick of academia, but I like the idea that a place is a space (location) that has some sort of memory attached to it (cultural, historical, even personal), and it is our duty and pleasure to preserve and share our places with other travelers. If you travel simply as a tourist, you are shown spaces that have been marketed to you. When you meet other people, you can actually experience living places.
I majored in geography because it is just that--connection to place--that I find to be one of the most important things in the world.
My other area of study was Arabic language and literature, because I think that the places and peoples of the Arabic world are some of the most interesting and least understood in the world, particularly in the West. And the writing is really pretty.
PHILOSOPHY
"Always do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest." - Mark Twain
"So it goes." - Kurt Vonnegut
"Go hard or go home." - E-40

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Singing an emotionally charged rendition of "wonderwall" with a bunch of drunk czechs with guitars at the Jindryska night tram stop in Prague, while waiting for the late night tram.
Being stuck in a tiny Berber village in the High Atlas mountains of Morocco for a week when ridiculous rainfall destroyed all the roads and bridges, and drinking my weight in delicious sugary tea and eating my weight again in delicious goat tagines!
Taking a week with a rental car and three new friends to see the valleys and deserts of southern Morocco...one of the most beautiful places in the world, I'm sure!
Teach, Learn, Share
In Poland, cobblestones are called "cats heads" because that is their approximite size. at least, thats what the Poles say the reason is...
There is a wine bottle (Macedonian dessert wine, 2008 i believe) floating down the Danube with a message for someone to find. It left Budapest on the 5th of June 2009, and reveals the true purpose of life.
The tallest mountain in Morocco (and all of North Africa), Mount Toubkal, is actually mispronounced by the vast majority of people, thanks to the French. Its real name is Toug-gal, which means something like "the highest viewing point."
