About Me

Hi,

I am Joeri and I love to create time to do what I love and get passionate about it. Life is not only about being happy to me; it is more about creating myself and always becoming a better version of me. Listening to others can always bring me something, so I am always wanting to learn new things and look at things differently.

Living in different countries and cultures combined with many travels around the globe have given me amazing memories and lots of pleasure. Besides all the fun involved in travel, it also enabled me to have different perspectives about current world problems and ways of solving them. Having worked for more than 10 NGOs I learned a lot and only wanted to learn more. All these experiences have made me into a positive activist full of ideas and ambition to tackle the issues we face today.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travel is not only about holidays. It is about meeting people and sharing passions. People on CouchSurfing are very often passionate about something and willing to share their passion. I hope to be lucky enough to be the one they share it with.

If we are going to meet, I will ask you what your passion is.
So get ready! :)

Interests

Challenging myself has become a hobby, so I try out experiments which shape my lifestyle.
* Run marathon des sables
* Live with out a garbage bin
* Travel the world without airplanes
* Try polyphasic sleeping
* Learn 10 languages
* Stay in the outdoors for 10 days in a row

When I'm outdoors I love sports like snowboarding, ultrarunning, tramping, hiking, rock climbingm surfing and so on. If I spend my time inside, I like to be creative and draw, play the saxophone or write poetry. When I entertain myself I like to watch a good TV-show, movie, TED-talk or documentary.

Currently I am learning to live zerowaste, travel without an airplane, build a tinyhouse and to sail.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Quit my job and travel the world (sustainably)

Teach, Learn, Share

Don't be afraid to take a step into the unknown, get out of your comfort zone once in a while and you won't regret it. The more new things you do, the more experiences you have that will broaden your mind.

If something goes wrong while travelling, remember that it is part of travelling and that you probably have a laugh about it afterwards.

Try out new experiments and challenge yourself; even in everyday life. You will learn so much about yourself AND about the world. It might even change your lifestyle.
