Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION
After teaching in Osaka, Japan, I am going to overland it from Japan to South Korea and on to China, Mongolia, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and home. I look forward to meeting up and surfing at as many places as possible.

ABOUT ME

English teaching, country ticking, cricket-playing vegetarian, whilst all true, engender stereotypes that I fail to live upto. I see the world as a buffet, I´m going to get the best out of it, leave plenty for those behind me and but I'm not leaving until I'm satisfied.

Apres University, I decided to work, volunteer and travel abroad. I tend to stick to a yearly cycle of 4 months at home (sunny Bristol) in the summer, 4 months usually teaching abroad and 4 months travelling. I've travelled mostly overland in Africa, Asia and the Americas. One year Delhi to Beijing, the next Nairobi to Johannesburg, Shanghai to Manilia and last year from Recife, Brasil to Mexico city.

PHILOSOPHY

Enjoy yourself, life is short in this world.

Travel is education. So see and understand a little more of the world, whilst smiling

Find out what make you happy and as long as it doesn't negatively impact on others, then do it. Don't assume that working 9-5 and paying a mortgage is a life lived.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Meet up. Get down. Tune in. Chill out.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have slept on many couches whether on CS or not, there is something unifying about being invited into someone's house who you met only hours before. I had great experiences in Dubai and in China being welcomed into the CS community. I have always enjoyed meeting people, especially those who live in the countries in which I'm travelling as you gain a unique insight into a country that almost no other source can offer.

Intereses

Love sports, (cricket and football especially, but I'll watch or do most sports. I usually travel with a pair of running shoes and set off in the morning to explore the city.

International Affairs and History, having studied it at University and after travelling abroad I'm keen to understand the world a little better. I try and read up on the history and the politics of any country I'm travelling in, but books rarely represent life on the ground so be prepared for a few questions.

Vegetarian and part-time/practical Vegan, but travelling can test the Veganism.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Can say "thank you", "too expensive" and "cheers" in most countries I've travelled.

I can name 150 or so of the 200 world capitals, someone bet me I couldn't, so I put a pocket atlas in my bathroom at university and put my time to some use.

Having taught in Mumbai, Shanghai, Sydney, Osaka and taking a CELTA course, I can help with a bit of English grammar.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I enjoying cooking and have tried learning a dish from many of the countries I've visited, I once won a cook-off with the school cook in India.
