My passion for traveling spawned from studying abroad at Sichuan University in Western China. Highlights aside from immersion in the city of Chengdu include side trips to Hong Kong, Guilin, Tibet, Xian, and Beijing.

Studying abroad inspired me to pursue a minor in Chinese studies and make a return trip following graduation. I made central China my home for two years as I taught middle school English. I picked up right where I left off, living as a local and wandering the regions on weekends. During my second year, I was lucky enough to live in a large enough city with an amenity I was missing - ultimate frisbee. Much of my travels during the year were in the form of attending tournaments throughout China.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There are countless places I want to visit and revisit in our world. Meeting up with travelers from these various places is the closest thing to an introduction without actually leaving Portland. Additionally, I find the next best thing to traveling is hearing about others' current journeys.

Some of my most memorable adventures, while living in China, came from showing friends around my new city. Exploring a city from a visitors perspective allowed me to see my city in an entirely different way. I am looking for opportunities to meet up with travelers, so I too can be a tourist of the pacific northwest.
