About Me

Hi! I'm Joey, from the US. I grew up in New York City and moved four years ago to Los Angeles, California for university. I just graduated from university, studying economics and history and I'm glad to do some travelling before I start working. I started backpacking a few years ago with a trip to China and I've been hooked ever since. I most recently studied in Hong Kong for four months and got to travel around Asia (9 countries) and had a blast. Now I'm travelling to South America for four months and I hope to be able to experience some local culture, eat great foods and improve my Spanish. I'm a big fan of rock music and jazz, I have a dog and a cat and love to talk about everything from history to politics to music and travel stories. If you want to meet up just send me a message!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The best experiences I've had while traveling has been meeting people on the way. Meeting people from different backgrounds, with different experiences, has allowed me to see the country I'm visiting from a totally different perspective. I hope to be able to meet up with and stay with people who want to show me around their city. You're always welcome in New York for the same experience whenever you come.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, The Beatles, The Shins, The Descendants, Narcos, Game of Thrones, Peaky Blinders, House of Cards, Walking Dead

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived in China for three months without understanding the language, now THAT was crazy. Traveling to small towns on the weekend, doing amazing hikes and navigating the country without speaking the language was challenging and amazing at the same time.

Teach, Learn, Share

If anyone needs help practicing their English I'm happy to help. I need to practice my Spanish so we'd make a great match

What I Can Share with Hosts

Again, if any host wants to practice their English skills , I'm more than happy to help. If you need a couch to sleep on in New York then I'd be happy to host ( when I get back)
