About Me
Hi, im Joey, a 27yr old engineer from the island of Tasmania in Southern Australia. These days I don't do much engineering and instead have been travelling the world for the best part of 2 years.
I love to travel, eager to learn and experience new things and socialize with and meet people from all over the world that I wouldn't have the chance to meet back in Australia.
Im very outdoor orientated. I grew up on a island in the southern ocean which is pretty wild. I try and camp and go hiking as much as possible and I also scuba dive whenever I get the chance. On my recent trip to South America I started learning mountaineering, climbing some mountains over 6000m high and learning to use crampons, ice climbing and rope skills, this is something I plan to do as much as possible in the next few years.
I also love to cook, discovering food is one of the best experiences of travelling, so show me your'e cuisine and traditions, I would love to learn how to cook them!.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to travel, I try to do as much of it as I possibly can. One of the most consistently rewarding experiences of travelling is meeting the locals, making friendships. I have met many amazing locals from all over the world so thats why Im on couch surfing!
I believe travelling using resources such as couchsurfing is very rewarding and would hope that every couchsurfer I meet on the road can come and sleep on my couch in Australia at some point!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think its hard to think of one specific thing that I have done when there are many amazing places and experiences out in the world I try to go for! My best experiences have been generally under water (scuba diving) or out on the wild mountains climbing and trekking.
A highlight was my first proper mountaineering climb on Huayna Potosi in Bolivia which is 6088m high and requires ice axes, crampons and ropes. The views from the top extended all the way down the Andes mountain range to the Amazon basin.
