About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Take my shoes off and jump over a chair

ABOUT ME

I live in China with my girlfriend! We teach English here. It's a lot of fun! I write in my spare time. I love love love food and can't control myself around good quality cheese.

I like to think I'm thoughtful and well-mannered, but I also know how to have fun.

PHILOSOPHY

My greatest fear is that I won't get a chance to do all of the cool sh*t. You know, the cool sh*t...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've made a lot of friends through this website and, now that we've got a spare bedroom, it's about time I offered it to some of you! We'd like to meet some friendly, adventurous people from anywhere in the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Lots of good stories. Check out the references for examples :)

Interests

Hmm... lots and lots and lots... writing: journalistic stuff as well as fiction. I have a tendency to write quite dark, character based stories and screenplays, but I enjoy the odd rom com too.

Poker: I feel at home with a deck of cards. There's something about poker that has always enthralled me.

I hadn't traveled much before my first year of university, as I simply couldn't afford it, but since winning a big poker game, I've been to Las Vegas, skiing in France, Barcelona and Copenhagen. I was heading to Venice until the volcano malarkey happened. I spent three months in New York and now I live in China! The adventures have not stopped!

Food: part of the reason I enjoy traveling is that I love, love, LOVE food. It's good, isn't it? Trying food from around the world makes me extremely happy. Cooking is fun too!

Check out the Movies, Music, Books, and People I enjoy sections, because I love all of these things as well. Probably more than most people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Films: Maybe I should have done a film studies course. My love of them has consumed me recently. I pretty much like everything so long as it's done well. This includes Hollywood Box Office hits like Up, The Dark Knight and In Bruges, but also small arthouse films like Dreamers, Mezrine and Moon.

Reading: for an english student, I'm remarkably fussy when it comes to novels. If I'm going to invest my time in a book, it had better be good. Some of my recent favorites include JPOD by Douglas Coupland, A Fraction of the Whole by Steve Toltz and Darkmans by Nicola Barker.

Music: I'm musically talentless. In fact if I end up staying with you, you'll probably get a chance to hear my hilariously bad singing and my equally hilarious, but slightly better RAPPING. I'm such a middle class white boy. My top five songs on itunes are Dreamer by Atmosphere, First Day of My Life by Bright Eyes, Dig, Lazarus, Dig, by Nick Cave, Jesus Christ by Brand New and Money, Cash, Hoes by Jay-Z and DMX.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've written a letter to Santa Claus, swam in the ocean, gone out in town dressed in drag, tried not to think about boobs, won a water gargling contest, I've held a mirror beneath my eyes so that I feel like I'm walking on the ceiling, squashed eleven people into a shower, snuck into a hotel swimming pool/jacuzzi at night time, taken an invisible dog for a walk, stolen a bath tub, I've raised a single eyebrow, licked my elbow, twitched my nose, wiggled my ear, sneezed with my eyes open, dug my own grave, I've rode an elephant, quit smoking, fought a seven foot man, been stranded on a sea rock, spent more than £600 on dinner, kissed a girl in the rain, intentionally answered every question wrong in a science test, I've taught my sister how to stop lisping, spent five years traveling the Ganges as a snake charmer, grown a tail, beat the devil with a deck of cards, seduced a mermaid, looked Medusa in the eye, eaten my words.
