About Me

Hi there!

I'm drawn to beautiful, wild places. And I enjoy meeting interesting people along the way. There's really something to be said about the connections made and friendships formed by opening your home to fellow travelers and spending time together sharing stories and swapping thoughts and ideas.

When trying to decide where I want to go on my next trip, one of the biggest factors is what kind of cool, amazing views I can get from atop a mountain, next to a waterfall, from a cliff, on an iceberg, or by the beach. And I enjoy spending time with people who like to do these things too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I appreciate the pay-it-forward mentality of Couchsurfing. There are always new places to explore, adventure, learn about, and experience. This is a fantastic means to connect with other people who see the world like I do, as an endless place to search for awesome experiences.

My wife has been a Couchsurfer for quite a while. We have hosted a few people of the last couple years. I have always enjoyed meeting interesting people and I love the opportunity to share stories and experiences with like-minded folks. I wish I had been more active on CS sooner!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I flew from Philly to Portland, OR to meet up with my dad, who was out there on work. We had a few days off, and had zero plans. I was looking on a map, and the Redwood National Park caught my eye. The Redwoods? Why not?

So, we drove over to the coast, and took 101 all the way down. We caught some spectacular views on the way down, and of course the Redwoods were amazing. We made the round trip, a little over 900 miles, in 3 days.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love doing stuff with my hands. One of my passions in life is woodworking. I am drawn to the ability to take raw wood and turn it into what seems like pieces of a puzzle and assemble them to end up with a chair, table, desk, or shelf. I've spent a most of my life being a do-it-yourself-er, and have real work experience doing carpentry, painting and furniture making. I enjoy the opportunity to help others do stuff around the house, such as fix a door, hang a hammock, change a light fixture, and what-not.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Like I mentioned above, I welcome the opportunity to help others do stuff around the house, such as fix a door, hang a hammock, change a light fixture, touch-up a wall, and so on.

I also am glad to whip up a hearty meal. I love cooking all sorts of food.
