About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Exploring New York
ABOUT ME
I just moved to New York from Cincinnati.
I returned from Senegal in November of 2012. I'd been living in a small village working in agricultural development through Peace Corps. Mostly I enjoyed my relationships with Senegalese people and the land.
I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and studied Philosophy at Kenyon College. I'm a snobby reader, but not snobby otherwise.
PHILOSOPHY
Exhaust yourself.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've hosted a few people in Ngouye Marie, the village where I lived in Senegal. I've done some informal couch surfing in the States. And of course, lots of surfing with other Peace Corps volunteers in Senegal. Looking to couch surf all over Spain, then to start hosting in Philadelphia.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
It's been very positive so far. I've had great luck in meeting some great people.
I've been a surfer far more than I've been a host, and now that I live somewhere really cool, I'm looking to give back a little.
Interests
Experiments in living. Reading literature and poetry. Learning languages. Drinking tea. Sitting. Sitting up straight.

Music, Movies, and Books
I really like films by Pedro Almodóvar. Also Jim Jarmusch.
I like music by Philip glass. Tom Waits, Chopin, Kronos Quartet
But I haven't listened to much music or watched many films since I've been in Senegal.
I read a lot. Borges, Nietzsche, Tolstoy
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've twice cried with an old Senegalese man who has no teeth.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can speak an obscure west African language very well.
I like to experiment when I cook. I think most people like what I make. I always do. I think cooking is a great CS activity and I'd always be more than happy to cook for someone who is hosting me. And right now I have several kilos of Senegalese cashews which would go well in some kind of stir-fry dish.
I'd really like to host international travelers who can show me and my roommates something of their home country.
Countries I’ve Visited
