Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It is the most fun!

I have stayed with various hosts cum friends across Europe.

Interests

North Germanic languages/cultures, self-sufficiency, organic/biodynamic gardening, urban agriculture, hiking, astronomy, hospitality, classical civilizations, 19th and early 20th century antiques, ballet, regional food/wine/beer/spirits, the usual.

I like a good party night just as much as I like a relaxing evening.

I like to read Hermann Hesse (Demian, Siddhartha), Jane Austen (P&P), David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas), a little Karl Marx here and there, and a smattering of Thomas Mann (Der Zauberber, Death in Venice).

I like to listen to Andrew Bird, Patrick Watson, James Vincent McMorrow, Beirut, Edward Sharpe, Tchaikovsky, Mozart, ABBA, and much more.

As for movies, I am all across the board.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Eating a fresh ceviche lunch atop a mountain in California.
Living in Berlin for one month. Wow.
Watching the sun rise over København.
Sitting on the Trolls Tongue (see photo).
Exploring an abandoned and forbidden island off the coast of New Brunswick.

I am well versed with 19 and 20th century antiques.
My English is alright.
My German is pretty bad.
My French and Norwegian are terrible.
My Italian and Yiddish really suck.
