About Me
Hello you, I'm glad you're looking at my profile page :D
I'm Julius, a 19 y/o guy from Germany that wants to go on a little adventure between finishing school and starting my next period of studying (probably computer science next winter).
I've been playing the trumpet for over 10 years in different bands and orchestras, and I'm currently trying to get into Jazz a little bit more. When I have freetime left over (and also for some holidays) I love cycling and climbing (I've mostly done toprope and bouldering inside, but would love to get into rock climbing too).
I'm usually a cheerful and very curious person that loves to hear and learn about basically anything.

TL/DR: 19 y/o student after high school before college, musical and technical, looking for adventures (hiking, climbing, cycling, nature) and culture (local traditions and food, conversations)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Spending time with a person that has lived in a city or country for a longer time is one of the best ways to get to know the culture and "people", and to discover cool places there.
I'm not really interested in going to tripadvisor and making a list of sights that I can then check off my list as "visited" - I prefer actually living in a place for a couple of days, getting to know how people think and live there and experiencing the culture. Of course, I also like sightseeing every now and then, but not only in the typical "walking around a city taking photos of things" way.
If you have any spare time while hosting me, I'd be happy to spend some with you, no matter if it's just evenings cooking, talking and playing games or spending entire days in your favorite places of a city.

Music, Movies, and Books
I used to read a lot more books, but the abomination called Netflix has unfortunately taken over during the Covid years. But I'm actively working on getting back into more analog media such as books and board games.
My favorite genres were always fantasy and science fiction, but more thriller-like stories have grown on me in the last couple of years. So, when I was younger, my favorite books were Skulduggery Pleasent, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter and the Shadowhunters series, later I read books like Thalamus and Erebos, and random thrillers I could find in the book store (e.g. Rabbits).
I also love watching movies and shows - in my early teens I was addicted to sitcoms (Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother) and Marvel movies, now I prefer a different kind (Lupin, Kaleidoscope, Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul). Unfortunately, even though my memory is usually relatively good, I somehow manage to completely forget about the detailed plot of most books and movies - I was once mad at a friend because he "spoiled" me for a show he knew I had already watched just a couple of months before ... so don't expect me to be the best talking partner about movies and books, even though I do enjoy a session of slowly recounting a plot with somebody that has a much better memory for these things!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
While doing an Interrail trip through Europe in 2022, I hiked through the entirety of Liechtenstein (from east to west)! If you have any geographical knowledge of the region, you'll know how impressive and amazing that is :D
That Interrail trip was over the course of 14 days, of which I spent exactly 2 days, 14 hours and 51 minutes on trains, traveling a total of 4.783 kilometres. I've been repeatedly told that this was crazy, and in hindsight, I totally agree.
I've also cycled from Berlin to Amsterdam, from Usti nad Labem (Czech Republic) to Hamburg (the entirety of the Elbe River) and many many more long tours!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a bit of a techie, so if you'd like to talk about 3D printing, coding, circuit design, building computers, fixing some devices, I might not be a professional at all but I'm at least very eager to share knowledge about these things.
I'm a native German so I'm able to teach you the most important words (whatever "most important" means to you! :D)
Also, just sharing stories about travelling and what I or you have experienced is a lot of fun
What I Can Share with Hosts
Well, mostly my knowledge on some of the topics mentioned above, my moderate cooking skills (I've learned original italian pizza and carbonara from my italian roommates, but there's an about 50% chance of success and 50% chance of being moderately OK), and of course shared time - I love listening to stories and, when I'm comfortable, talking a lot about my experiences too.
Countries I’ve Visited
