About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I'm Johan, I’m 32 years old and I come from France. I have traveled a lot. I have a master’s degree in management of "non profit organisations". After working for 8 years with troubled youth in France, I want to take a break in my life and travel for one or two years.
To finish my world trip, I've decided to cross North America with bicycle (one pic of that).
I'd like to live experiences through Couchsurfing and sharing place when I'arrive at the end of my trip, St John's. I want to meet local people, participating in their daily lives, discover ways of life and different customs away from the tourist sites.
ABOUT ME
Before starting my trip, I have been working on my English every day to be able to speak during the trip.
I want to improve my English to share my trip and my experience.
I will travel alone and I want to meet local people and share my trip with other backpackers.
I am easy going and respectful of everyone's lifestyles. I love to share a good meal, laugh and meet people. I will begin my journey in Asia, then europe and now in Canada.
PS: I don’t snore and I can sleep on the ground. I don't smoke neither but if you do, whatever.
PHILOSOPHY
- Smile at your life and life will smile at you.
- Le vrai miroir de nos discours est le cours de nos vies. (Montaigne)
- Smiling and sharing is free !
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have been host of 4 backpackers, (3 French and 2 German). It was very nice each time… I enjoyed very much finding out about their countries and showing them mine. I keep in touch with people who have stayed at my place.
I wanted to help backpackers whenever I lived in France.
Interests
I practice many activities in France : surfing, fishing, spearfishing, climbing, trekking, kayaking, salsa dancing, biking.
I practised Climbing and hiking for 15 years. I climbed cliffs for many years in Italy, France,Spain, Switzerland, in Central Park, NewYork, USA. ....
I wanted to do it as a job but I had two accidents. The first one was a serious accident, I could have died. I was climbing a big wall. A rock broke away in my hand and I fell 7 mètres. I got a broken wrist and coccyx too.
And the second one was in Italy, on "Grand Paradise Mountain", 4000 mètres above sea level. My friend and I walked on a glacier and we fell into a crevasse. So I am a lucky guy...
Since 2014, I have practised mountain sports less and less, but I like it again now. Winter is coming so I’ll go into the Alpes for skiing…
I also salsa dancing teacher. Not my main job but I really enjoy it.
Other interest, English language!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbing a cliff with 2 friends for 13 hours… 400 mètres (max 6c+). Ecrin’s Park, Alpes.
Quit a good job, my friends and my country to discover the world and become a backpacker.
Teach, Learn, Share
Climbing, Cuban Salsa, french languages, fishing
I can prepare french lesson, 2 hours every day...
I can teach Cuban Salsa (girl lessons and men lessons)
I discovered dancing a long time ago. In 2009, during a friend’s wedding, I saw a couple who danced together all night. I thought it was amazing and I decided to learn to dance.
My first teacher taught me the waltz, pasodoble, chacha, rock and roll and quickstep.
But 5 years ago, I discovered Cuban music and Cuban Salsa and it was a surprise to me! It’s just wonderful to dance the Cuban Salsa. It’s street music with just a few rules and a lot of improvisation. Since 2013, I have been dancing just the salsa. (And today the Kizumba too)
Since 2016, I have become a salsa teacher for beginner dancers.
In exchange for accomodation and meals, I can teach Cuban Salsa for two hours per day.
