ABOUT ME

Most important of all: You don't have to be like me to surf our couch!

My name is Johan Christian Nord. I am a knowledge and humanbeing interrested young man filled with the urge to understand the world, the people in it and the tiny place in it occupied by me.
I study comparative religion as a BA student at the university and have just commenced my minor studies in German language and culture(Deutsche Philologie/Germanistik). My studies are very important to me, and I really enjoy the combination of a life filled with books and with regular full fleshed living people.
My accacdemic interrests are mainly concerned with the intersections and connections between litterature, religion, mainly Christianity, and philosophy(german philosophy!), and I am hoping to be able to continue exploring this field in an accademic employment somewhere in the world.

I live with my girlfriend, whose name is Anna, in the second largest town of Denmark called Aarhus, a quite small place in comparrison to European cities in general, but a lovely place to live and study. We have an appartement with plenty of room which means that we are capable of accomodating at least three persons and even more than that, if visiters are content with the floor..

So far I have only been travelling in Europe, but I assume that destinations further away are to come.
My girlfriend and I are both interrested in surfing other peoples couches and inviting travellers into our home.

I hope to have given a rudimentary impression of myself.

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life, because I can't help doing it, I have to find ou what it's all about, but frankly I don't really know yet. All I know is that I enjoy the life I live with my girlfriend, our friends and my endeavor of getting to know more about this place. I am sorry that I can't give a clear cut answer on this one, but this is it for know. Obviously the fact that I am unaible to give a clear cut answer doesn't mean that there's nothing in there! I will try to add more thoughts and feelings with time, they are definitely there!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I will be thrilled to house travellers going to Denmark and I will do my best to give them a good impression of our town and share my knowledge about Denamrk and what else I know anything about.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Paul Giraud in Marseilles hosted us for five days in August 2010 and and Ben Baker hosted us in Paris for to days the same month.

We hosted:
Jan, Till and Thorsten from Germany: one night in August 2010
Silvia Gütschow from Germany: one week in february 2011
Noémi Tallarita and Guillaume from France: two days in May 2011
José from Santiago de Compostella, Spain
And so far it has all been great!

Interests

Knowledge!

The world religions with a special interest in Christianity.
Litterature: Primarily European litterature, narrower; central European litterature, even narrower; German and Scandinavian literature from around 1900.
Philosophy; primarily german philosophy but also a general interest in the European philosophy as such.

Learning languages; I enjoy learning languages and thereby getting the opportunity to communicate with people who don't share the same immediate circumstances as me. So far I speak descent English and German, I am working on my French and am able to understand and to a certain degree also communicate in Sweedish and Norwegen. The languages are very similar, only the pronounciation is extremely different, so it doesn't count as seperate language skills.. Besides of this I have reading skills, a little rusty though, in latin and Greek. Besides of this I have a grand plan about learning dutch, the sounds are amazing!

Backgammon!
I simply love this game and I guess I couldn't live without it. My girlfriend and I litterally play it everyday and take great pride in keeping track of the score.

Besides of all this, I guess I am just interested in knowing more about the world and the different kind of people living in it. I am also able to laugh...
