About Me

Hello, fellow couchsurfers!

I am a Finnish psychology student, who loves meeting people from all over the world. I love travelling because it gives me possibilities to learn about different cultures and enlargen my perspective on life, make new friends, and get unforgettable experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm hoping to meet kind couchsurfers, who would also like to show me around their hometown. I am able to accommodate 1-3 guests and will gladly guide them in Turku if I have the time.

I created my account on Dec 21st 2014, and in less than two weeks I hosted four people. These first hosting experiences were great and made me even more motivated to continue hosting. I want to be active on Couchsurfing because it gives me more chances to meet interesting people and get new friends.

Interests

I love listening and dancing to music, playing the piano, and singing. I also enjoy doing acroyoga and aerial acrobatics, because they're playful and challenging.

I have two cats, and I like to sit on the couch and have both of them in my lap purring. I like almost all kinds of animals, so I'm not afraid to couchsurf at an animal lover's place. :)

I also like reading, watching movies, eating delicious food with good friends... I think that almost everything is interesting if it's done in good company.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I completed a hyper-intensive course of social perception, or "senssis" as we call it, which is designed for students who are majoring in psychology in the University of Turku. The students are divided into small groups with which they are to spend five days.

We spent long days (7-9 hours plus a marathon day of 15 hours) in rooms that we furnished with mattresses. We did nothing but live in the here and now. We became incredibly sensitive to our own and others' feelings, and talked only about what was happening at that very second.

The course got its inspiration from sensitivity training (hence the nickname "senssis") that was developed after World War II. This training originated from the method of the wartime psychologists who helped soldiers overcome their traumatic experiences.

I wish this course was open to anyone and obligatory for every psychology student in the world but it's extremely expensive to arrange an intensive course like this which requires many tutors (experienced psychologists and almost graduated ones). Otherwise I would recommend this to everyone because you wouldn't have to have much knowledge about group dynamics or social perception - you would learn by experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am quite passionate about veganism, feminism, and environmentalism. It would be great to teach and learn about these topics!

I can teach you to play the piano and a bit about singing, too, or about music in general. If you're interested in psychology, I can tell you something about what I've learned from my psychology studies in the University of Turku.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can lend a listening ear and share stories from my travels. :) Of course, I will share my basic amenities, too! :D
