About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live, love, dance in the rain and make you smile

ABOUT ME

I've been described as happy-go-lucky, control freak and "the man". I suppose there's a hint of truth in all of the above mentioned. I'd describe myself happily confused. You can judge for yourself if you're into that sort of thing.

PHILOSOPHY

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do." -Mark Twain

"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." -Wayne Dyer

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Normally by offering my couch, comes without saying. Even though I said that. I like to contradict myself. I also like meeting other travellers in CS events. These are a few of my favourite things. 🎵🎶

I moved to Limerick in January 2017 and bought my own place after an eternity of renting rooms in house shares, so I finally have a chance to host again (work schedule permitting). Send me a request. :)

I haven't been in Limerick long enough to know the city like my own pockets, but I'm eager to go exploring. We could go check out the Hunt Museum and King John's Castle. And some pubs. I've been to the pubs, but better go make sure they haven't changed!

I can also make you acquainted with Finnish culture if you're interested. There's actually more to it than our national hobby of drinking vodka in sauna and then running around in snow butt naked.

Just give me a nudge if you're in need of a host / friend to talk to or have coffee / drinks / lunch / walks around town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted people in Luxembourg, Dublin and Limerick and met other CS'ers for walks, talks and parties in Bangkok, Luxembourg, Jerusalem, Dublin, Budapest, Oaxaca and Poznan.

Surfed in Paris, Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv, Amman, Wadi Musa, Mexico City, Dublin, Cork, Oslo, New Jersey, New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Austin, Texas. The overall impression is very positive. So many kind, interesting, brilliant people! Keep 'em coming!

Interests

I enjoy reading about stuff or experiencing said stuff with all senses (preferred option when possible), eating and drinking my way around the world, meeting intriguing people along the way, making new friends, having laughs and parties, embracing life and trying out new things that scare the shit out of me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I do random shit all the time, given work isn't taking up all my time (the absolute joys of adulthood).

One of the randomest things, amazing as well I suppose, was my expected 4 month trip to Morocco, Norway, USA and Mexico in 2014. Everything went well until I hit Philly and DC, somewhere over there my debit card got skimmed, I was left without a penny to my name, and I emergency bussed it to my friend's place in Savannah, Georgia.

In Savannah, while waiting to be reimbursed by Bank of Ireland, I was living in an army camp together with my mate, getting free food and hitting the gym together with the soldiers (winning). They had such impressive food and gyms that I almost considered I could just stay and become a soldier myself!

Some weeks later, after being reimbursed, I hit Puerto Escondido in the Pasific coast of Mexico and thought I would never want to go back home ever, so I took a job I was offered, learned Spanish and adopted my canine shadow Binky. She was digging though rubbish on the beach while I was daytime drinking. One thing led to another, and the next morning I woke up with a stray dog in my room. After a short 'what the fuck have I done now' crisis I took my new friend to the vet for vaccinations and de-worming. It just felt like a sensible thing to do.

It wasn't all sunshine in paradise though. After ongoing struggles to make the ends meet and an incident involving two muggers with machetes, I packed my beach dresses and Binky the dog and we moved to Ireland. It took us 4 days to travel through 5 countries (6 if you count Wales).

Ok now I made myself sound all exciting. I promise I'm not that exciting, and I do a lot less random shit now that I've become a real adult (cringing at this so bad). Unless of course you're up to something that sounds amazing, in that case I'm in without a doubt!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm keen on learning anything new. I would really love to learn to play the guitar and I would also like to learn meditation. Basically my curious nature forces me to try anything once.

I'm quite impressive with things involving snow as I grew up with lots of it. So I could teach you shoveling snow, making snow sculptures, making snow angels, skiing in knee-high snow, building snow castles and of course the national hobby involving vodka, sauna and running in snow naked. But since snow isn't widely available in Ireland, I would either have to fly us to Finland or to stick with teaching ice related activities such as ice skating or getting your tongue stuck on a pole. But sure, let me know if you need tips on those.
