About Me
Hi everyone!
I'm Johannes - another German guy who loves to travel, share and connect.
To say a bit more about myself, I’ll share what brought me to CS in the first place. It’s a brief story about a recent chapter that shape me a lot as a person.
Right after graduating high school, I was privileged enough to experience a lot of freedom. A tingling feeling of curiosity pulled me out into the world, a growing longing for adventure and desire to feel myself in all kinds of environments made me rebuilt my dad’s old bike.
I really wanted to hit the road with it, escape the small world I knew, embrace the unknown and open my mind, as much as I could. I wanted to experience what else was possible, what people I could meet and see where this old set of wheels would take me.
I had the Mediterranean Sea in mind, Croatia, maybe Albania - that would be cool!
Before setting off I loaded my steel donkey with a little more than needed (last minute, as always!). A quick good bye, cuz we would see each other again soon, right?!
That’s how I naively embarked on my biggest bicycle journey yet.
I did reach Albania, met amazing people and loved it so much that I kept on cycling east following the silk road.
Who would have dared to think? - certainly not my 19 year old self!
But surprisingly, after two years on foreign roads, I actually made it all the way to Indonesia, Lombok - gathering as many experiences, encounters and beautiful little moments along the way as possible. I’m so deeply grateful for all of it!
I ended this chapter in December 2023. Since then I’ve been trying to reintegrate into society, which is an interesting process that is still ongoing. I’m based in Freiburg now, studying environmental sciences, enjoying the benefits of stationary life again.
I’m so glad that these hosting platforms like CS exist. Because unlike most other internet stuff, they actually do help likeminded people to connect. I’d love to continue getting to know people on here - with their kind ways, unique stories and perspectives on life!
If you’ve made it this far and think that we could have fun moments together, I will be happy to hear from you :)
