Hi, I'm a physicist by training, currently working with machines to test optical components and assemblies.

My hobbies include lots of technical stuff (I like being a physicist ;) ), listening to and making music, and cooking and baking. I am still involved for a student organisation, where twice a year, me and some friends do the cooking for a long weekend for about 50 people - home cooked meals from scratch of course. So on travel, I am of course very fond to explore the local culinary style.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started using couchsurfing during a holiday trip in 2018, when I made several short stops, and wanted to get some more social contacts on the way rather than sit in a hotel. My experience was very positive, hosting and staying, so I wanted to return to it now after the pandemic for my next holiday :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen mostly to electronic music (like Trance), but I also like pretty much any style of music and listen to most things more or less frequently. I also play instruments myself, mostly accordion nowadays, and some piano and synthesizers.

Perhaps the most unusual thing about me is that I don't read books (I did as a kid though). Didn't really find enjoyment in that for a while now... Perhaps it will come back one day, who knows.
I also don't watch TV or a lot of movies, but that's not as bad as books ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going on an astronomy field trip to South-Afrcia. We stayed a couple of nights at one of the worlds best observatory sites. With such a dark Sky you see so many stars that even some long-time amateur astronomers didn't find the constellations anymore.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I could take care of a nice meal, since cooking and baking are among my bigger hobbies. I also would enjoy to do some activities together, since staying with a host is quite the point of Couchsurfing, I think.
