After graduating high school in 2011 I went to study psychology in Jena, where my focus is shifting between research and counseling.

Three years later I felt the urge to go out and explore the world on my own terms, which lead me to travel to New Zealand and southeast Asia for almost a year. Among other things I used this time to explore buddhist philosophy, and in the end I decided not to go back the university immediately after my return to Germany, because I wanted to focus on music and reading.

Things turned out differently again: My hometown was looking for someone to care for the refugees that were seeking help in our country and I jumped at the opportunity to have a real impact on people's lifes with my work. Nonetheless, I still wanted to finish my education, so after working in Sögel for one year I went back to university in October 2016 for my master's degree.

兴趣

Music. Ever since I began to teach myself electric guitar when I was 15 in order to play in a metal band, music was a constant in my life. Instead of playing the guitar, I ended up being the shouter of the band. I switched to acoustic guitar about 5 years ago and learned how to sing. I love it.

Hiking. Never really hiked more than short 2-hour trips before I went on a huge 2,5-month trip in New Zealand, and it was awesome. Unfortunately the countryside around Sögel is probably the flattest one imgainable, so it's not as much fun here. But standing on top of a mountain after an exhausting 5-hour climb is so rewarding! You feel like there's nothing in the whole world you can't do.

People. Not a big surprise coming from a psychologist, I guess. I like to think and talk about people's behavior, thoughts and feelings, ways to improve people's well-being. In this I find modern psychological theories just as interesting as ancient (buddhist) philosophy (there's a lot of overlap between them anyway) and stories and metaphors.

I walked 1, 300 kilometers through the backcountry from the south tip to the north tip of New Zealand's south island on the Te Araroa Trail. It took me 72 days and was one of the hardest things I've ever done. It was also one of the happiest and most exciting times of my life.
