Philosophy
"If you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect" Mark Twain
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I find Couchsurfing can be the purest form of traveling as it allows people to open their perspectives and walk in each others shoes. It is the ultimative vehicle to meet weird people (I mean that in a good way), people you´d never meet otherwise as their philosophy of life deviates from your own. CS is a window of opportunity to broaden up your horizon.
No matter where you live, what you do, how old you are!
Isn´t that fascinating?
Interests
I like topics and books that explain how the world works and how the people in this world live and interact. Of particular interest are subjects like Economics, Sociology, Geography, History or Psychology. Since these things reflect very rational approaches to understanding the world, on the other hand, I try to foster my intuitive and emotional minds. For instance, by appreciating art and music, it balances my soul and keeps me grounded. Particulary independent electronic music, jazz and good pop.
Music, Movies, and Books
Here are some nice tunes and books that I like. Feel free to propose something new, I am constantly looking for new inspiration.
Electronic: Mount Kimbie, BrandBrauerFrick, DJ Koze, Gold Panda, Lawrence, Robag Wruhme
Jazz: Gregory Porter, Jamie Cullum
Pop: Chet Faker
Rock: RHCP, Beatsteaks
Books: Sapiens: A Brief History Of Humankind, Lessons of History, The Prince, The 4 Hour Work Week, Triumph of the City, Thinking, fast and slow and everything that is related to Psychology (e.g. Alexander Lowen)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I try to stay curious and open minded. This has brought me to some weird places (and people). I love and embrace that!
Teach, Learn, Share
I enjoy anything that raises the heart beat like skiing, biking or surfing and anything that raises the mental pace like chess, good conversations and books.
