About Me

My hobbies are improv theatre, tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs), bouldering, cycling, hiking in the mountains.
I'm interested in mindfulness, personal growth and meditation. My current mission is to find happiness and to live an exciting, fulfilling life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing means a lot to me - I think it's a fantastic way to connect to people. I would say, during my couchsurfing adventures, I felt more alive than ever before.

When couchsurfing, I enjoy doing deep talk instead of small talk. I love these intense connections that emerge so often when two strangers meet and become non-strangers.

Music, Movies, and Books

=== Movies
I love inspiring movies like The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. It has a quote that I really like:

"To see the world, things dangerous to come,
to see behind walls, draw closer,
to find each other, and to feel.
That is the purpose of life."

Call Me By My Name, Children of Men, Requiem for a Dream, The Bucket List, Dead Poets Society, Begin Again

Many movies by Woody Allen: Whatever Works, A Rainy Day In New York, Husbands and Wives, Everyone Says I Love You, Café Society

=== Books
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Project Hail Mary and The Martian by Andy Weir
Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am always looking for exhilarating experiences that push me out of my comfort zone and let me become fully present in the current moment. Some of my adventures:

- Fly to Bulgaria with no preparation, unable to speak the language or read the Cyrillic alphabet. Couchsurf for the first time, and directly do it for 2 weeks in a row. Travel along the balkan back home, taking buses and hitchhiking for the first time. 🇧🇬✈️
- Met a charismatic guy with a ukulele on the streets of Budva, Montenegro. In the evening, traveled 100 km to the next city Niksic by bus, and arrived at my cs host. He told me another guest will arrive in the night. Next morning, guess who I see in the kitchen? The ukulele guy, who arrived later than me, because he hitchhiked all the way. 🇲🇪🎸
- Do my longest couchsurfing trip ever for 4+ weeks in a row. Meet a fellow couchsurfer in Inverness, Scotland and do a sponateous road trip with him on the Isle of Skye. Sleep in my tent on a mountain on the Lofoten Islands, Norway. 🇳🇴🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
- Climb Pulpit Rock, Norway, sit on the edge and let my legs dangle from the cliff 🇳🇴⛰️
- Do a mountain road trip with two friends through Italy and Switzerland, couchsurfing for two weeks in a row. 🇮🇹🇨🇭🚌
- Wild camping in my home country Germany. It's illegal, which made it especially exciting. A spontaneous trip just with my bicycle and tent. 🇩🇪⛺
- Did a spontaneous 1500 km transfer drive of a camper van for only 1€. The rental company had a special deal, and the condition was: I had to drive the van from Heidelberg, Germany to Bercelona in only 5 days. It was my first time living in a camper van, and the longest road trip I have ever done. During my trip, a huge farmer protest broke out, blocking the highways all over Spain and causing chaos. Farmers and the police were everywhere - getting to Barcelona despite this was a big challenge, but I finally did it. 🇫🇷🇪🇸🚐
