We met through a friend in Galway and have being going out with each for over 3 years. For as long as we’ve known each other we have been talking about travelling and are glad we have finally got around to it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are just new members so unfortunately we haven’t had much participation yet. We hope this will be an exciting and adventurous chapter of our travels. We look forward to meeting interesting and fun people and sharing some of our experiences with them. We hope one day when we ‘finally’ settle somewhere that we will be able to return the favour for other travellers by providing them with a comfortable couch and good company.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have couch surfed in Melbourne and also Adelaide. Both being very positive experiences. It's a great way to get to know a city instead of always relying on travel books. We hope we can continue to have such great experiences.

Interests

I suppose like any couple we have some similar interests but also our own unique ones.

What we share:
Travel - thankfully because this would have been a pain if we were on opposites sides of the world. It’s great that we have each other to enjoy these experiences with, the good and the bad.
Film, music...the usual chestnuts.
We both love to socialise with our friends, like many Irish and meeting new people. Discovered a love for diving over the past few months.

What we don’t share so much
Emmet: TV series, design, art, photography (amateur compact camera stuff) , clothes (although my backpacker wardrobe ain’t looking too great), computers.

John: Reading, nature programs (science geek), musicals (gay!)

Phew when we started this list we had the fear that after three years we would come to the realisation we have nothing in common!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach
We can teach you how a bit about our home country, it’s not just leprechauns and shamrocks; we have a little more to see and do. We are pretty well travelled in Europe and now South East Asia so we could give you some helpful tips.

Learn
Would love to know more about wine, we need to broaden our Cabaret Sauvignon from Chile. We want to learn some of the local dialect and good spots to eat and drinks. Some advise on sights and activities would be more than welcome.

Book Swap anyone? 2 ipods worth of music that anyone is more than welcome to browse through and ‘borrow’. Exchange some tips, advice, stories on travelling in general and some specific destinations.
