Overview
About Me
Phenomenal Architecture, Phenomenal Places and Phenomenal people.
I am currently doing doctoral research in architecture and am aiming to circumnavigate the globe during the course of 2017.
While I have a hard passion for my craft, I use my spare time surfing (waves) playing music, and spending all my resources to travel as often as I can.
I'll try everything once, I love to get the adrenaline moving, wear my heart on my sleeve, and always up for a beer and a couple of laughs!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Looking to host and be hosted, to facilitate low budget travel while meeting new people, engaging in cultures and getting the insiders edge.
For years I have been doing backpackers, find hotels lonely and now looking for more authentic experiences of places and people. I have hosted numerous times and am still new to being hosted. However I am well to play my part and respect the couch surfing culture.
Interests
The ocean holds my heart and the landscape owns my soul. Im an architect, a lecturer, a musician, a sculptor, a surfer and a vagabond. I am more the Greek poet than the Roman warrior, and have a great love for all things water, arts and design.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have been playing bass for years in the African, Jazz, Metal and Funk scene. Not one for genres as long as it makes you feel. 21 Pilots, Snarky Puppy, Saosin, Pink Floyd and SA local band Blk Jks are currently making dents on my playlist.
Movies not too much, but anything Tarantino gets me moving, and a strange indulgence for the series "Last Man on Earth".
Mostly spend my reading time researching, so usually engulfed in non-fiction - Architecture and Philosophy. Just wrapped up Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead", so even when it's fiction I can't seem to escape the wonders of our built environment and pondering our existence.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
After 4 flights, 1 train, 4 busses, 3 ferries and 108 hours without sunset, I finally arrived at the edge of the world, at the most northern tip of Norway in the small village of Vardø. The purpose was to visit the Steilneset Witches Memorial, designed by architect Peter Zumthor. Having ambulated through a series of memorable landscapes, people and events, it was at the edge of the world that I had discovered, unknowingly, the most spirited of all travels..............the pilgrimage.
Teach, Learn, Share
"We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time." T. S. Eliot
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm always up for great discussions, meaningful conversations, experiences, offer a contagious smile and the warmth and richness of my beautiful countries culture.
Also a jack of all trades and happy to help around the house, so if there is anything I can fix, I'm always happy to make, just let me know.
Unfortunately the skill of my hands does not extend to the culinary arts and I cannot cook, but I'd love to help if you show me. Luckily I'm great at dishes, and always up to buying a warm meal and a little banter!
