Hello, Hola, Kon-nichiwa, Bonjour, Nei Ho, Ahoj, etc. fellow travelers!

My name is John Denton Asdourian, but I go by J.D. or Denton. I am here to make new friends and meet new people from around the world. Whether it is hosting members or being hosted I hope to create friendships that will last a lifetime. I am a pretty adventurous individual and have been on some wild journeys all throughout the U.S., in between the ice fields of Patagonia, Chile, played lacrosse in Japan, and recently traveling solo around the world. Most recent adventure was spending almost a year in India. I biked about 4,000km in India's peak of summer heat and lived in an ashram for 7 months becoming a classical hatha yoga instructor.

Some fun facts about me:
-I am a single father to my 4 year old Jack Russell/Boston Terrier Mix and love all animals
-Hiking and camping in the back country are a few of my favorite things
-I would rather sit around a campfire with some friends and drink good beer than go out to a bar (it tends to save a lot of money and invoke great conversations)
-Although I do enjoy going out to a bar/club if there is some good music and dancing
-I love to travel on my own and meet new people
-I love trying different foods and learning how to cook
-Traveling is my passion and I have many life travel goals
=1) Make friends in every country I travel to
=2) Learn about as many cultures and traditions that I can
=3) Have a beer in every country with a local
=Meet me and find out more!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had mentioned this concept to a friend of mine (why not start a website where you can host backpackers and travelers who are looking for a place to stay) and then he informed me of couchsurfing... This was about 5 years ago in 2010. Unfortunately I was never able to be a part of this wonderful community, because my college roommates were not very open to the idea of letting "strangers" into our house. Now that I am on my own, I can finally begin to host people and give back to the community of travelers.

September 12th 2015, I bought a one way ticket to Europe and solo backpacked for 4 months. Met some warm, bright, and interesting people who were willing to share their life stories, culture, customs, traditions, and local cuisine with me!

I started a blog called Life Around the Planet and I plan on interviewing people during my travels to ask them deep and meaningful questions about their perspectives on life, success, and happiness! I would love to either be hosted by you or to just simply meet up and share some stories. If you are interested I would like to interview you as well!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1) Took a NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) course in Patagonia, Chile where I went on an 80 day expedition. Spent 40+ days backpacking through Patagonia's mountains and glaciers and sea kayaked over 200 nautical miles in 30 days. It was the most intense yet rewarding experience of my life, which fueled my passion to travel around the world and see what this beautiful world has to offer.
2) Fasted for 5 days just to prove to myself and my friends/family that I could. I also wanted to do a complete detox. Started with 24 hours of no food or water. On the third day I had to drink herbal tea with a spoonful of sugar and salt to balance out my electrolytes. It was one of the toughest challenges I have ever completed!
3) Traveled solo by bicycle around southern India for around 4,000km in the middle of their peak summer conditions.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach
I practice yoga and know several Acro Yoga poses that I love to teach and share.
I know some pretty extensive knowledge on backpacking/camping and could help answer most questions and if not I know of many websites that could help.
