About Me

I enjoy traveling. One of my favorite places is Mexico. I love the Spanish culture and try to practice learning the language as often as I can. I look forward to visiting places I have never been. I have a B.S. degree in Political Science. My industry is real estate. My son and I are about to embark upon a 12 month journey beginning in Guadalajara in August/2014. We will then backpack through southern Mexico, Central America and then into South America. From there, who knows? During this trip I will be obtaining my TEFL certificate, he and I will be attending Spanish language courses and volunteering on different projects in various parts of South America. Can't wait to get started.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

UPDATE: Got started, TEFL certification completed, visited Guadalajara, Tapalpa, Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, Queretaro, Oaxaca City, Puerto Angel, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Palenque, Guatemala, Honduras (now PADI certified), Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. Today we arrived by sailboat to Cartagena. One of my fellow passengers who is from Canada suggested I try out this site. I am on Couchsurfing because it sounds like a fun way to meet new and interesting people while saving money at the same time.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a variety of music genres - not real fond of heavy metal or rap, though. Top 40 stuff, country, jazz, Latino are all good. Just read The Alchemist yesterday - was a great read. My all time favorite movie is probably Love Actually (I know, "girly".) Can't help it though - the movie always leaves me feeling good about people after watching it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, just sailed from Panama City to Cartagena. Hiked a very steep volcano in Antigua. While the first one was amazing and enjoyable, the latter was amazing and deplorable - God, that was a tough hike.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to teach English to non English speakers. I like to teach my son to enjoy life and to consider and appreciate the cultural differences in the world. I encourage travel to everyone, but especially my son.

I enjoy sharing new experiences with people. For me there is nothing better than taking someone (especially adults) to New York City for the first time. The looks on their faces are priceless.

I like to help people whenever possible. If my help is appreciated then I enjoy giving even more.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Not sure how to answer this question. Maybe - an opportunity to make a new acquaintance and possibly a new friend. I will say this though; I am respectful, considerate, quiet and clean. I always treat other's property as though it were my own.
