About Me

Is there anything more intimidating than trying to sum yourself up in a witty paragraph? Probably, but it's still gross. Here goes...

I'm a relentlessly curious person. I really enjoy meeting different people from all different walks of life who can hold a decent conversation. People who make me see the world from a different perspective are always a plus.I'm gay (which almost seems passé in 2016). I'm a big fan of black humor and dry wit. I'm not judgemental (unless you're an absolute dick). I'm open minded and have a real adoration for people who just say "fuck it" and be themselves.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's just such a great concept! The idea of connecting with people all over the world is amazing to me. I've seen such a tiny piece of the world so far and would love to show people the city I'm so passionate about but also see what other people love too.

Interests

I actually went back to college a couple of years ago and studied European Studies (basically politics) and I'm now finishing a degree in English, Media and Culture Studies and that's a pretty good indication of what I enjoy.

Love to read and watch movies (but who the fuck doesn't!) I love to cook for friends like Moroccan, French, Italian some Indian (the cuisine I mean, I don't label my mates by nationality).... I'm not saying it's the best thing anyone has tasted...but I give it a go. I love a good cheese board, to the point where I genuinely fear I may get gout. Oh, and I'm a social smoker.

I really enjoy philosophy and critical theory. Mainly post-structuralist but I've got a soft spot for Queer, Feminist and Post-Colonial Theory, so if you're one of those people who love to argue/debate/talk a lot, I can oblique.

I like to go for hikes and walks in the countryside, but am hardly ever given the opportunity because I live in the city.

The Stone Roses, Wire, Gang of Four, RJD2, Le Tigre, Pixies, Micheal Jackson, Summer Camp, The Cardigans (the 90's basically). New Order, Talking Heads, The Cure, Eurythmics, Fleet Foxes, Arcade Fire (although Reflecktor was a bit meh) David Bowie, Miles Davis, Glenn Miller, Jeff Buckley, Fleetwood Mac, Childish Gambino, Diskopunk, Nina Simone, Regina Specktor, Broken Social Scene, Metronomy, Metric, Chopin, Dustin O'Halloran.

Movies:
Ghibli Animation, Von Trier stuff, The Lives of Others, Amelie, The Breakfast Club, Carry On....movies.... kind of too many to mention really.

TV:
Arrested Development, Community, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Office, The Thick of It, Alan Partridge, Rick and Morty, Archer.

Books:
Anything by ... Christopher Isherwood, Evelyn Waugh, James Joyce, Isaac Asimov Jane Austin (although some of them are gack) Neil Gaiman, Charles Dickens, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Terry Pratchett, George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, Gareth Nix, Ernest Hemingway, Arthur Conan Doyle. There's a lot of one hit wonders and non fiction I like too, but they escape me at the moment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've directed some plays and participated in some Shakespearean productions (the later was always a dream of mine). As far as "Amazing things I've done" ... I'm not really sure, it's all a bit subjective, isn't it? I mean what's amazing to one person could be boring as shit to another. I've got myself into pretty hilarious situations which I'm willing to share, but maybe not in print and only over some drinks ;).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation (I hope). Some laughs and some fun experiences! :D

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States
