About Me

Travel - mad (of course!) all my life. So: fairly wide experience of many countries and cultures. Discovering SE Asia now, where I am a volunteer teacher of English to adults, especially in Viet Nam. UPDATE: because of the virus situation I shall remain in Vietnam, mainly in Saigon, until at least May 2021. In normal years I spend half my time travelling and teaching and so am unavailable in the U.K. normally from late September till April. By all means, let’s meet in Viet Nam!

When I’m in the U.K. ... there is room in my flat for one, two or three visitors who wish to stay for at least two nights, separate room. I am 30 mins from the city centre by bus and ten mins to local rail station. About 30mins from the airport. Please note that I do not accept just overnight stays: there are plenty of B&Bs for that. Also no late night arrivals (after midnight) or really early (before 07.00) departures please.

Knowledgeable and open-minded, I welcome all visitors regardless of gender, belief, sexual orientation. I am not at all religious. I am an exile from Hospitalityclub.org which, very unfortunately is dying fast. But I have good guest and host references there too.

Note that my ‘languages spoken’ should say ONCE fluent in French!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to know countries, societies and cultures through the eyes of native residents. Equally, I want to share the same experience of Manchester and UK with others.

I do not accept single-night guests: that is well catered-for by B&B or hostels.

Interests

Cinema, eating and drinking local foods and drink wherever I am. I walk a lot and play Badminton regularly. Visitors are welcome to play (£5 fee for up to 3 hours) - on Weds 17.30-20.30 and/or Sat 13.00-16.00. Wide range of abilities, doubles play on four courts.
