About Me
Hi There!
Umm...I'm never good at these. I moved up to LA to pursue a career in comedy writing and have been bouncing around careers ever since. Currently, I'm working in the training and development field part-time but looking for more regular work.
I love to travel and meet new people. I like hiking and camping as well. As I get older, I prefer small intimate conversations with interesting people and good friends over larger events. I try to eat healthily, I like a good laugh, and I'm also very liberal leaning politically.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like meeting new and interesting people with different points of view and perspectives. But also, everyone I know seems to be getting married, so with all the travelling I'm doing, I thought I'd give this a try.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I listen to Native American flute music when I want to be mellow and meditate. I like hip hop when I'm working out and dancing. Classic Joan Jett when I want to get pumped. I like mellow coffee shop music when I'm getting work done, and I like Zero 7 and Citizen Cope when I want to be reflective. And I don't admit this usually, but I do like Taylor Swift. Her music gets me up and moving.
Movies: All kinds as long as they're good. Comedy, Horror, Sci-Fi, Action.
Books: Mostly my friends writing from our Wednesday writing group. I've been caught up in articles a lot lately, but I really enjoy Sci-Fi, Comedy, Fantasy, Self-Help, and Social Psychology. So Douglass Adams, Tolkien, Malcolm Gladwell, Thich Nhat Hanh.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
For my 40th birthday, I went to a Buddhist temple in South Korea for 2 weeks. It was a nice retreat, and very moving. I learned a lot though I probably forgot some of the lessons already. I even found my spirit animal, a Corgi. It's a long story.
I've also seen the Aurora Borealis in Alaska, hiked the trail to Machu Picchu in Peru, body surfed in Costa Rica, and seen an opera in the oldest theater in Europe in Naples. I just like to travel and try new things when my wife and I can afford it.
Teach, Learn, Share
What I can teach? Hmm...I can talk a lot about improv and comedy writing, and what Los Angeles is like. And I have stories about traveling around the world.
I'm always looking to learn more about other cultures and groups who have different ways of seeing the world and doing things, even in my own country.
What I Can Share with Hosts
What can I share...well, I can share stories of me traveling aboard (South Korea, Costa Rica, Australia, Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, England, Ireland), stories about traveling in the US (Alaska, Hawaii, Florida, New York, Texas, Montana, Wyoming, all over California, Arizona, Nevada), what it's like to be married for 4 years, what it's like to do improv and pursue a comedy career in Los Angeles. I also have done research into the science of happiness, which I find fascinating.
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Northern Ireland, Peru, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland
