Resumen
Sobre mí
I am a 21 year old student studying abroad for the semester. Currently I am studying at University Ramon Llull, Institut Quimico de Saria (IQS), in Barcelona, Spain. I have been doing some traveling over the past 4 months. I have been to Switzerland, Ireland, Scotland, and France (for a cup of coffee over the border of Switzerland, Geneva Airport.) I am the captain of my college's rugby team back home. As well, I am working on a start-up with one of my professors from IQS. (I hate the term start-up, but I am technically a start-up.) When I am done with college I am looking to either continue working on my company or join the military, or run the company for a few years and pass it off to my business partner while I serve. Other than that, I am pretty laid back, and when traveling I'd rather not go to all of the touristy spots. Although they are cool, I like to experience the culture more. If that means having a beer in a small pub, I'm all about it, or going to a cool unknown coffee shop, that works too.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
Currently, I have about $20 USD. So I am hurting for cash. I do have a credit card but I save that for food and emergencies. I leave Europe in a little over a week and a half. BUT I am going to Paris for a day or two, then Normandy to see the WWII beaches and memorials. I will be in Normandy for the 73 Anniversary of the storming of the beaches. I think that that will be the highlight of my trip. As well, like I said in the "About Me" section, I'd rather wander around and find the unknown places rather than visit the major sights 24/7. So that's why I am looking to Couchsurf.

Música, películas y libros
I like almost all music, except for what is mostly played on the radio. I'm into Brit Rock, so The Kooks, The Wombats, Arctic Monkeys. There is a popular band that was started 2 towns over from me Joywave, and they are pretty awesome too. I like the alternative scene. I'm not a huge country guy but I am a big Zac Brown Band fan. I was raised listening Dropkick Murphy's, Rage Against the Machine, Rise Against, Green Day and Linkin Park with my dad. However, my dad has a full room dedicated to his cd's and albums. He's got just about anything you can think of. And then on the other side of the spectrum, with my mom I was listening to Barry Manilow, James Taylor Hall & Oates, Ricky Martin, and Gloria Estefan. All good music in my opinion except Barry was played a little too much for my liking but it's formed my music taste today. I listen to everything from what I've mentioned to older stuff like Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles to newer stuff like Joywave which I mentioned above. Also, I'm a big Stevie Wonder guy.
Movies, I watch whatever. I am big into documentaries and movies about war, They interest me because so much of history isn't told, but they offer a glimpse into what someone, or some group of people experienced.
Reading, I do a lot of reading of mindset, meditation and self-wellness books. Put good in-get good out. I am not that big into fiction but I will say I was a big fan of Harry Potter, but I feel like most people are.
Algo increíble que he hecho
I am a volunteer fireman in my hometown as well as a certified EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician- Basic) so I end up doing some pretty cool stuff (in my opinion). So I don't really consider the things I've done to be amazing, but I guess looking from an outsider's perspective, it would be amazing. My dept and I responded to a call at 0200 hours in December (in Rochester that means at least a foot of snow or more,) for a vehicle off the road. These are normal calls for wintertime. When we arrived the car was wrapped around the tree and the engine had been thrown from the vehicle. Six other guys and myself worked for about 30 minutes to get the man extracted from his vehicle. We continued CPR on the way to the hospital but unfortunately he did not make it through surgery. I don't think of it as that amazing, but people thank me for it. So I guess my perspective is skewed.
Enseña, aprende, comparte
I don't really know what is supposed to go here. But, I have taken one semester of Spanish back home, and I am kind of upset that everyone in Barcelona speaks English, because it didn't force me to use more Spanish. I would attempt to talk to someone, they would hear my accent and hear me struggle with what I was saying and immediately switch to English. So, I am still trying to learn. I have been putting shows on Netflix with Spanish subtitles so I can try to associate some more. If you need some help with English, I am happy to help.
Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones
I have a very good business sense and enjoy talking, sharing stories. So, I can talk, listen and relate. At the end of the day, that's what it is all about, sharing and gaining new experiences.
