About Me

I'm a Sydney born, country bred guy who has been living back in The Emerald City since 1988.

I've worked in TV for 20 years, from the ground up to a good position.

I'm affable and at times irreverent and fearless, but also aware that a little respect, honesty and trustworthiness goes a long way. I believe in good manners.

I was a child prodigy in music. I can play the piano, violin and guitar but I really like to sing: usually when I'm in the car and nobody I know is watching.

I'm an avid collector of 1950s 'stuff'. I boxed for about 12 years (just the conditioning, the sparring: not so much).

I don't drink alcohol, I'm not particularly religious.

When having a conversation I prefer to talk about the aspirations and experiences of present company (as opposed to people who aren't present).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm taking a sabbatical throughout the United States from March to October 2017.

I'm not normally the guy to beg for free accomodation, usually I would pay for hotels or hostels etc.

However the sheer duration of this trip makes that option a little too expensive for my budget.

I'm more than happy to do tasks to pay my way, whether its preparing food (I'm a good cook), cleaning, or just a good old fashioned chin wag

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While travelling in Naples I met some Australian girls from the hostel. They had just graduated from high school near where I lived. They were much younger than me but very sweet.
They asked me to come for a daytrip to the Isle Of Capri with them. By day, we avoided the tourists with their paddles and walked over the island, past many small farms.
At the end of the day we went to visit the Blue Grotto. The gondolas were charging $40 to take the ten metre ride from the boat landing to inside the cave. I was okay with paying but my new friends were not.
Once the tide came in and it was too high for the boats to get through the hole in the cave, we waited for the boats to leave. Then we dived into the water and swam into the Blue Grotto while the water was rising.
As expected, the further we swam into the cave, the brighter blue the water was when we turned back to look at where we had swum from.
The experience was so invigorating and inspiring. I never would have done that were it not for a few girls that lived near where I lived in Australia. I'm so glad to have met those girls and share such a simple, yet life changing experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I studied Primary Music Teaching for a year before switching courses. Continuing the rest of my life in school was not for me, yet I am still a teacher.
I believe we're here on earth to learn about as much as we can: about ourselves, about others, about what came before us, and what may come.
I love to teach and I love to learn. Being born into the age of information is an incredible thing and we're all so lucky to live in this age.
There is so much we can teach and learn from each other.
