Overview
About Me
Hmmm, which labels to put first? Liberal arts student, computer science major, South African, brother, son, Westerner, African, white, curly-haired, reader, tech enthusiast, explorer. Perhaps I am a blend of all those different identities, but I think rather that a person cannot be fully understood through categories and labels. A better way to describe myself would be through some of my values: relationships, honesty, curiosity/learning, hard work, and respect.
Interests
Photography - I was given a camera as a birthday present last year, and I have
become great friends with it. I don't claim to have any special insight into taking photos, but I enjoy light, reflections and colours.
Reading - anything and everything. Good books are a bonus, but I would read instruction manuals if there was nothing else.
Running - particularly the kind where I can get lost and then try to figure out my way back again. I most enjoy trailrunning, and I am terrible at sticking to a fixed route/schedule.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - Beethoven and Mozart for studying/relaxing, Arctic Monkeys and Muse for defeating procrastination, Vampire Weekend for singing in the shower.
Movies - Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Les Intouchables, most things by Wes Anderson.
Books - Philip Pullman has a special place in my heart, but I'm currently reading a lot of Murakami and Ian McEwan. I'm always on the lookout for new things to read though, and would appreciate recommendations.
