About Me

Guy from the UK currently planning travels through South America.

Love to smile, laugh and share happy experiences with new friends from all over the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that Couchsurfing is a great way to meet new people from different cultures and experience new places from the perspective of a local rather than a tourist.

As fun as hostels are, I find that whenever I stay in them I'm only ever surrounded by other travellers who are also new to the area, and I just feel that Couchsurfing would provide a much more unique experience that I can learn and grow from.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've always had a huge interest in music that drifts between numerous genres on a daily (or even hourly) basis. Everything from hip hop and jazz to traditional Irish music (I'm also half Irish - top o' the morning te ye), rock, EDM and blues. Also a huge fan of traditional latin folk music and have recently discovered the wonderful voice and rhythms of Toto La Momposina.

As for books, I love to read and always make sure that my kindle is full of new stuff before I set off on my travels. Last five books read include: IT - Stephen King; Shame - Salman Rushdie; Captain Corelli's Mandolin - Louis de Bernieres; The Book of English Magic - Phillip Carr-Gomm & White Teeth - Zadie Smith.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I worked for two months as a volunteer chef in a Buddhist Monastery in Dharamsala, India (home to the Dalai Lama and many exiled Tibeten monks). Prior to this, I had zero experience as a chef but managed to plan, order, prepare and cook three vegetarian meals for around 40 people every single day starting from 5.30am and finishing at 6pm. It was a lot of hard work but highly rewarding and a great experience that I'd be happy to tell you about should you see fit to invite me into your home :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Many stories & tales ... such as the one where I almost got knocked off the side of a mountain by a donkey.
A great sense of humour (I hope).
A big heart.
Warm food.
