Overview
About Me
I am currently a a college teacher in Kurdistan (Northern Iraq). I have previously lived in Mexico, Egypt, England, France, and multiples places in the US (Texas, New York, California, etc.). While I am American I grew up in London and have lived about half my life or more outside the US. I guess I like to experience different cultures and social systems, which is the main reason I studied sociology. I am not sure where I want to go next in my life but I do hope it will be interesting.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have been told by my friends that this is a great way to meet new people. I'm not the kind of person who just wants to take the tour and sit on the beach. When I go somewhere I always want to find what is unique about it, usually far away from the regular tourist spots.
Interests
Just to say I like to push the boundaries, but by no means am I "extreme" in any way.
- reading
- traveling
- hiking
- adventure travel
- beaches
- biking
- swiming
Music, Movies, and Books
Mostly classics. Doestoyevsky, Tolstoi, Sinclair, Steinbeck, Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I am an optimist at heart but I prefer pessimistic literature.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Everything is amazing. Every day life is amazing. Sitting on the beach in Rio, enjoying the sounds of a street market in Durban, going to a great museum in Mexico or London. Probably the most amazing thing, though, is having two kids.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm sure I'm supposed to put something cool here but... ???
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a pretty good cook who can make a mean Spaghetti w/ meat sauce, beef stew, and a few other things. (Not vegetarian I am afraid). I also love playing parlor games. I can also share my experiences, if that is at all necessary.
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Belgium, Canada, El Salvador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Netherlands, Philippines, Scotland, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Wales
Countries I’ve Lived In
Egypt, England, France, Iraq, Mexico, United States
